Hello April

I am going to need Dale and Brendan to come over and help me out because April is going to be another busy month for us. So many activities!

  • We have one birthday. (wink wink it's me)
  • Hayden and I have 16 softball games.
  • Kyle has 14 track practices and 3 meets.
  • Kyle has the Idaho Battle of the Books, or IBOB, which is a statewide voluntary reading motivation and comprehension program open to all Idaho students. His team (Synonym Toast Crunch) has made it to the regionals.
  • Mrs. Shife and I are going to a concert.
  • We have a walk-a-thon fundraiser for Hayden's school

April challenge

The challenge this month is to take a photo of something I love every day aka April Appreciation.
Here's a sample. I took this picture of me and Hayden at the Boise State softball game last Sunday.

April collar

Here's Ms. Frizzle collar for the month:

What I am watching?

Since I don't read that much, this is what I hope to watch if I do get some free time this month:

Psych - Season 3 - Kyle and I are watching this
Halo - Season 1 - Kyle and I are watching this
Is it Cake? -Season 1 - Hayden and I are watching this
Search Party - Season 5 -
This Is Us - Season 6 -
Our Flag Means Death - Season 1
The Last Kingdom - Season 5
Snowfall - Season 5
Minx - Season 1
Better Call Saul - Season 5

Sweet tooth

It has been 24 days since I had a candy bar.

Meme dump

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. That's a beautiful photo of Hayden and you. I tried "Is it cake?" but it frustrated me because I wanted to see them close up. They are amazing bakers though.

    1. Thank you, Margaret. We have learned that if they do a close-up it will definitely give away which one isn't real.

  2. Synonym Toast Crunch made my day.
Nice photo of dad and daughter, and I'd wear this month's collar! Stylish.
    Lastly, cats seek revenge, always!

    1. Yep, I was pretty proud of that name, Bob.

  3. Only ten practices!? My oldest had that many in March, eight meets in April along with 12 more practices. It is exhausting and I’m just the chauffeur!

I finally jumped on the Last Kingdom wagon and have just about finished season 1. But I’ve already seen season 5 of Better Call Saul and am counting the days until season 6 starts airing.

    1. I was only counting the remaining practices left in April, Ed. I didn't include the ones he had before I published the blog.
The wife and I are both chauffeuring since a lot of the events are at the same time so one kid is here with me and the other one is with Mrs. Shife on the other side of town.
      It's exhausting.
Season 5 of Better Call Saul was great. Can't wait for season 6.

  5. Great Dad/Daughter pic. :) worth framing, if you ask me. Which you did not. But if you had. In Oregon it's OBOB and several of my kids are participating this year. Strangely, the most voracious reader of the bunch absolutely refuses to participate, saying that having to answer stupid questions about a book ruins the book for her.

As a person who hated book reports and nosy adults while growing up, I sorta have to agree with her feelings, although I love the concept of OBOB.

Having kids and sport practices is overwhelming at times. You'll look back and wonder how the hell you did it all.

    1. Thank you, Ami. They did ask some really dumb questions at his competition. Kyle wasn't happy about that. It will be interesting to see if he does it again next year.

  6. What a lovely photo!
And that collar is very beautiful.
Poor cat. I've never quite understood why people dress their pets up, and it's only fair that they show their displeasure by shredding the carpet or puking on the sofa.

    1. Thanks, Joey. I must admit I would probably throw a costume or two on Frizzle but she will not allow it.

  7. I'm watching Saul right now! Wow, I don't envy that much busy-ness. What a lucky girl Ms Frizz is to have a new collar every month. I think Nellie only had two in her life, ha!

    1. I know this might be shocking, kden, but we spoil Ms. Frizzle. A lot. But don't tell her. She thinks this is normal.

  12. Ohhh Reading? So much fun!
You know how I feel about reading: fundamental.
Love the idea of taking a photo every day of something we love. Will start that tradition STAT.
Minx, Snowfall and Search Party are dope. Totally with you there. And I love that you watch series with the kids.
And are you a fellow Aries? Now, that would be so cool!

    XOXO

    1. Thank you, Bijoux. The battle format is two teams have to answer questions from the books they were supposed to read on the list that was provided. It is quite a list and almost impossible for a teenager to read and retain but they did their best.

  15. Ms. Frizzle looks proud of her new collar. Enjoy your running around. That's a lot of TV to watch. I might catch a ballgame or two. At least now I can hope this year will be the one the Pirates take the pennant, but that hope probably won't last long.
