First things first:
Happy birthday to the love of my life, Mrs. Shife.
I am one lucky man and grateful that we get to share this crazy, beautiful life together.
I am one lucky man and grateful that we get to share this crazy, beautiful life together.
And to those of you not celebrating Mrs. Shife's birthday:
Time's up
The government is trying to do something that not even Cher could accomplish.
That's right they are going to turn back time.
That's right they are going to turn back time.
I know Congress has much bigger agendas to tackle but this one makes me happy.
The falling back always gets me because it gets so dark so early in the fall/winter and that helps accelerate my seasonal depression.
I am also looking forward to not trying to remember how to change the microwave clock every 6 months.
WFH
March 13 marked the two-year anniversary of me working from home.
When it first happened, I was not a big fan.
I enjoyed working from the office and being able to leave it behind when I headed home.
But I have done a 180 and have no desire to go back to the office.
Fortunately, for me, my department is pleased with the work we have done remotely and don't have any plans for us coming back to office in the near future.
It also doesn't hurt that Ms. Frizzle is best the co-worker ever.
Candy crush
Hi, my name is Mr. Shife and I have a fever.
And the only cure is more chewy caramel, rich chocolate, and peanut flavor goodness.
And that can be found in a WHATCHAMACALLIT candy bar.
I have been on a tear lately eating 1-2 every day.
I have been on a tear lately eating 1-2 every day.
I am not sure what is driving this addiction but I have decided enough is enough.
It has been 2 days since I had a WHATCHAMACALLIT candy bar and I think I am going to be OK.
Meme dump
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
HBD Missus, and cheers to many more!
ReplyDeleteI think I am the lone American that doesn't mind DST. I actually enjoy it.
We went back to work, AT WORK, at the start of the year and it took me a hot minute, er, month or so, to get used to it.
I am totally Kitty in Isolation #2!
I'm Spock in the produce section, too!
Thanks, Bob. I didn't mind DST until I was a stay-at-home dad with kids.
DeleteHappy Bday, Mrs. Shife! (Yay, we're both March babies, but she's a Pisces and I'm an Aries, natch). And I would have stayed working remotely but they called us back. Darn. I was getting used to working from home. Many people I know have stayed home, though. Probably not good for price-gouging real estate moguls, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm Kitty Number Six. Yep.
XOXO
Thanks, Sixpence. Kitty number 6 is a good one to be.
DeleteI am glad they are ending daylight savings time too. Cherish working from home. The amount it saves you in gas and travel, the amount if time it allows you to spend with your family or both invaluable.
ReplyDeleteWordscape is my app of distraction. I have an easier time skipping TikTok.
I am going to cherish it as long as I can, Bathwater. I might have to check out Wordscape.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your wife! There are always many celebrations (and green beer) in her honor. I am not a fan of DST (would prefer standard time) but will be happy to get rid of the clock changing x2 insanity. There are many fruits and veggies that I have no idea how to pick out. (melons and avocadoes for example) I'm a simple apple type.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret.
Deletehappiest of birthdays Mrs Shife..many many more..
ReplyDeleteTY, YDG.
DeleteLet’s get this out of the way first….kitty #1 (before work) kitty #2 (when I get home from work). Love that meme :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy happy birthday to Mrs. Shife!
And although I'm glad they have decided to do away with the most annoying change of time/morning annoyance/it takes 2 weeks to get used to spring forward crappola, I am a tad bit vexed that they waited until I am retired. At least the next two time changes before it becomes permanent will be me having coffee, and enjoying the lack of alarms to get me up and going.
I am glad that you aren't going to have to go back to the office ~ I know people on both sides of the fence there. They probably wouldn't want to return if they had Ms. Frizzle calling the shots!
Thank you. Ms. Frizzle makes it a lot easier to work from home.
DeleteYes, a happy, happy birthday to the Missus!
ReplyDeleteHere's where I make you supremely jealous. When I first graduated from college I got an accounting job for the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. All guests got a free candy bar when they checked in, either a Hershey Bar, or a Watchamacalit, they were brand new back then. And, being tastier than the standard chocolate bar, I ate them by box... literally. They are tasty as hell!
Thank you, Dave R. Mission accomplished. I am jealous.
DeleteHappy birthday to Mrs. Shife. I hope you pass on all of them to her. My grandma's birthday was yesterday, mine is the 31st. All in all, a very good month.
ReplyDeleteThank you. You and Kyle share a birthday, Joanne. A good month indeed.
DeleteWhat a great day for a birthday! Hope you guys are all having fun. I’d also be thrilled to never change clocks again. I do know how to do the microwave because our electric goes out often enough. I’m obsessive about the time on the oven and microwave matching.
ReplyDeleteI might have a similar obsession, Bijoux.
Delete@bathwater - Here's the headline... Senate votes to make daylight saving time permanent... not eliminate it. Make it permanent. Yea! I think they should add 2 hours.
ReplyDeleteHBD Mrs. S.
Thanks, Mike.
DeleteHappy Birthday Mrs. Shife! I will be more than happy to see the end of changing clocks twice a year. I believe the bill has to go through the House and then get Biden's signature but I doubt that will be a problem. Then when we change clocks in March of 23 they will stay put! Yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonnie. Looking forward to leaving clocks along myself.
DeleteHappy Birthday to the Mrs.! Yeah, like Bob above, DST has never really bothered me much. Every day is just another day, regardless of how dark it is, what time it gets light, and all that stuff. Shit- this post reminds me that my wonderful wife's birthday is just around the corner. Gotta go shopping!
ReplyDeleteThanks, balanced. Good luck with your shopping.
DeleteDid you know we’ve done away with time changes at least twice before? The last time it got undone was due to too many kids getting run over on their way to school in the dark. Schools started adjusting school times to start in daylight again and everything was a mess so we went back to time changes again. This isn’t coming full circle but becoming a merry-go-round!
ReplyDeleteI saw a few articles about that, Ed, once the news broke about wanting to end DST. I am sure there are going to be a lot unintended consequences if it happens again.
DeleteHappy birthday to your wife. I'm sure she's being fast-tracked into sainthood.
ReplyDeleteAs for your candy addition, I'll be happy to help you out. Just send your excess bars to me!
Thanks, Jeff. She has most certainly earned it.
DeleteFirst, HBD to Mrs. Shife. What a survivor! *grins*......
ReplyDeleteI dreaded my husband working from home as I couldn't get anything done around the house.
And, I love the last meme. I don't eat fruit, but there is nothing worse than picking up and squeezing a soft onion at the grocery.
Thanks, Jimmy. She has put up with a lot being married to me.
DeleteI hope Mrs. S had a wonderful birthday! I know she has a thoughtful husband and kids and therefore everything else is just icing on the cake we call life.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what kind of time they settle on as long as we don't have to do the changes. The vehicle clock is the one that gives me the most trouble every single time. Love those memes - I'm ALL of the cats except the one with the earbud, and Ms Frizzle is the kind of co-worker anybody would love to have.
Thanks, jenny_o. I have issues my car clock as well.
DeleteHappy birthday to her. I hope it's a good day.
ReplyDeleteI like daylight savings time. I like it when it gets dark at 4pm. lol
Thank you, Mary. It was a good day.
DeleteI have never worked in an office. I have always worked from home for over 30 years. I found it humorous when everyone went virtual and they hated it. I loved it. I worked longer hours, no lunch breaks or breaks. But by year 10 you realize you need to take a break. But I still didn't do that often until I got a dog. Then I knew I had to take a break becuase she needed one too. I would stand at my desk with my head set and throw the ball down the hall all while talking to customers when not on a break. Oh yea, Izzy was the best co-worker who slept at my feet. I could have never gone back to an office environment. I hope you don't have to you sure have a cute blonde co-worker!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Peg. I am hoping me and Ms. Frizzle can ride this one out until I am ready to retire. And we have also played fetch while I have been in a meeting. Thank the fat bassets there is a mute button.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your wife! When I was working my job was not the type to be able to do at home so I never got that luxury! You have the cutest co worker though! Those WHATCAMACALLIT candy bars are definitely addicting! Congratulations on conquering your addiction!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeannette. I am big fan of Ms. Frizzle.
DeleteI'm happy about not having to turn our clocks back and forth but now I'm reading more of the points against the permanent change; but I'll still take it. Ms Frizz and her ball :) I have taken many client pics like that. I've had that candy bar before, it's great. Hope Mrs. Shife had a good birthday.
ReplyDeleteMs. Frizzle loves her ball. And we did have a good birthday for Mrs. Shife. Thanks.
DeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHope your wife's birthday was great and that you did something special together. My hubby worked at home a good long while too, but missed going to the office; so now he does a bit of both. They're suppose to be in the office at least twice a week, but he tends to go almost all week. Most don't. He likes to get out of the house, the internet connection is better and it's only 1.5 miles from the house. I'm thrilled about the daylight savings time too. I always hate the falling back, and the early darkness.
DeleteThanks, JM!
DeleteThanks, Sandy!
DeleteWhat is it with microwave clocks? And cooker clocks. I'd like to think I'm a practical person until it comes to changing those clocks.
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday to your wife!
