Hello August

Cruisin' into August

We closed out July and welcomed August by going back to the movies.
This time Mrs. Shife and Hayden joined us.
Do you want to take a guess at what we saw?
It wasn't a perfect movie but we all had a good time and enjoyed the cinematic experience.
Anyhooo, is it me or does it feel a little weird that it is already August?
Summer is moving along rather quickly.
The kids will be back in school in less than two weeks.
And only 143 sleeps until it is Christmas.

The darkness

My old buddy Tobias showed up last week.
Tobias is want I call my depression.
A few events triggered it and I have had better weeks.
I was really irritable, had a short fuse and spent a lot time sleeping to deal with it.
It hasn't been this bad in a long time but I recognized it and talked to my therapist, who I hadn't seen in more than 4 years.
I am feeling much better today.
I know the source of my discontent and we are working on making it so I can be content.
Suck it, Tobias.

Deedles

Last week, I had a dumb observation about calling apple juice, AJ.
And I got a great comment about it from Deedles that really did make me LOL.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:

"Balder Half enjoys a good blueberry juice every now and then.
I refuse to ask him if he wants a BJ!"

Alliteration

Feet, Frizz and Florida fellow.

Any other suggestions for the last F?
I was watching the NBA Draft with my favorite yellow dog and the guy on the TV screen that got drafted  is from Florida State.

Meme dump

I will try and do better.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Oh man, I remember those neverending questions as a parent; that meme is perfect.
I'm sorry the depression had an unscheduled visit with you. It's good that you knew what to do and did it. That's a victory all by itself because depression can rob a person of all energy and initiative. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself.
I laughed at Deedles' comment last week too :)
Keep on keepin' on, Mr. S. One foot at a time. And thank you for your continued support on my recent posts. I can't say I love the current situation but I'm more at peace with it, and that's something.

  2. I hate Tobias! I'm glad you know the source and are working on it. This entire summer has been most unpleasant due to the heat (and now smoke). The last meme is the best, ha.

  3. Awww, I'm blushing! I have no filter and I often worry if I'm being offensive. It doesn't seem to stop me though. Sorry to hear about your depression. That is a good idea naming it. Now I have to come up with a name that suits mine. I love the memes! That last one is so true.

  4. Wow, I need to get the person who wrote the resume meme to help me with mine. I might even get a CEO job of a major company, lol.
My depressive moments aren't worthy of a name, unless it's a cuss word. Which I'm really trying to avoid. I like the name you picked though, and good luck with kicking Tobias to the curb.....take care.

  5. Your Deedles meme is spot on.
You need one of spitting on Tobias. The fink.

  6. My three year old grandson’s favorite word is WHY? It’s exhausting. Sorry to hear about Tobias. It’s been a rough two years.

  7. "143 sleeps until Christmas"? I'm not ready!!!
    Well, Tobias can suck it.
That exercise meme? Is it bad that I thought, "Oh, I do all of those."?

  8. Sorry to hear about Tobias showing up. I understand a little too well how difficult that can be. It seems like the past two years have been an invitation for it. I'm glad you are getting a handle on it. That is a great picture of Frizz! She's a beautiful girl! Take care of yourself!

  12. Ugh. Hope Tobias does not stay. That kind of visitor is always persona non grata. Glad you're talking to someone about that.
Have yet to go to a movie. I think it'll be the Aretha Franklin biopic what'll get me in a theater. Of course, now we have those variants running rampant, so...
Loved the meme dump! I'm going to try to remember that changing a lightbulb next time I have to write my self-assessment for work.

    XOXO

  15. That dog is a beauty! Thanks for the info on the exercise, I think I have been doing them quite well from the descriptions! Sorry about Tobias, I too live this so I hope that the sky clears a bit for you very soon.

  16. Sorry to hear you got an unwelcome visit from the depression fairy. I really hate when that happens. I've been fighting depression since I was 9. It's not easy. Hopefully you've found something that helps. For me it's watching comics perform. I need to find something to laugh about.

Summer is almost over and I'm so happy about that. Can you believe sunny days make me depressed? lol I love rainy, overcast, cold days.

  17. That's a brilliant way to help deal with depression: name it, and send it on its way after a brief and dissatisfying visit. Like an annoying and energy-sapping guest. You didn't allow Tobias to overstay his welcome.

  18. Maybe Tobias would like to walk my black dog?

To top Deedle's blueberry juice, my friend and her husband were walking through the parking lot from the grocery store. There was a man trying to get...er...blueberry juice from his girl friend, who was responding by making puppy dog noises.

They called the police because he was pretty graphic in what he wanted out of his blueberry juice, and there were small children about.

The 911 operator wanted to know what kind of a vehicle they were in. "They're not in a vehicle. They're standing in the middle of the parking lot." The 911 operator said, "Whaaaaattt???? Are you kidding me?"

  19. Lol that Yoda meme cracked me up.

I'm sorry you are or were suffering with depression. I can relate. I've been struggling myself.

Summer here in the UK has been crap, in fact I'm still waiting for it to arrive, and it's almost over. Just hoping that we can get to AZ sometime before I die to get a dose of sun.

  21. It's been a struggle for me with depression lately. It sees a weakness and just climbs on. I've had a lot and I mean a lot of stressors lately, but I'm going to make it. So will you brother. Hang in there!
