Thought of the day
Kyle is officially hitting the road solo now!He passed both his written and driving tests just last week, so it’s really happening.
Honestly, it feels surreal watching him come and go on his own—I’m so used to driving him to work or practice that I keep catching myself glancing at the clock, half-expecting to grab my keys.
Just another big leap towards his independence.
I will just be over here sobbing in the corner, thinking about how he will be off to college in about 2 years.
I think I'm going to start dressing Lucy up to make myself feel better.

Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
So much changes when they get their license. I enjoyed chatting with my captive daughters while taking them somewhere. I also worried a lot about their safety! It's hard to believe that Kyle is THAT OLD.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is hard to believe and I am trying to cope with it. I am so happy for him but it is still hard letting go and watching him become more of an adult.
DeleteLucy looks incredibly ticked off.
ReplyDeleteI think it is her natural state unless I have food for her.
DeleteLucy does NOT look amused by your shenanigans.
ReplyDeleteShe'a really going to be upset when we have fashion week in July.
DeleteMaybe if you point out that there will be no catwalk...
DeleteI will pass it along.
DeleteYay for Kyle! Exciting and scary at the same time! Lucy does NOT look pleased.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed. Lucy will get over it especially when I give her some cheese.
DeleteGoof for him. I didn't get my drivers license until I was 24. lol
ReplyDeleteLucy doesn't looked thrilled at the prospect of having to dress up for you.
She is not going to be happy with me in July.
DeleteI think Lucy's a little unsure about your idea.
ReplyDeleteGood on Kyla!!! Freedom ... and responsibility!
She has trust issues with yours truly.
DeleteIt's fun to look back on those years, but always bittersweet for me. The babies who I'd think of differently according to people... 'just wait until they're two' or four or eight or in braces or dating or whatever... THEN you'll wonder what you were thinking!!
ReplyDeleteBut it wasn't true. I loved every age and every stage and wanted to freeze those moments in time until the next amazing thing happened. Your pride and adoration for your kids shows when you talk about them, and you don't seem to have committed the cardinal sin... forgetting to enjoy the moments. Keep doing that. You'll be happy you did.
You are spot on, Ami. Thank you.
DeleteOMG Lucy!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd being able to drive is the BEST FEELING ever. I remember that when I got my license I could literally not believe it.
I can imagine how hard snapping out of that routine can be for you, though.
XOXO
I am so happy for him but also a little sad as this is another he can do without me.
DeleteDriving? Now he's going to want a car of his own, you know? Enjoy the experience! Mentos and coke...
ReplyDeleteTime flies. It just does. Don't get Lucy riled. She knows where you sleep.
DeleteIt is bonkers how fast it flies.
DeleteAs much as we want our kids to grow up and be independent and live their own lives and be happy - why does it have to happen so fast? But even though it's hard to accept that loss, as parents, I have a feeling you and your kids will maintain the closeness you've had all along, no matter how old they get. And that's something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, congratulations to Kyle!
Lucy is absolutely magnificent in that get-up. Did you say "July fashion week" to someone in the comments? Please, please do that! This is the content we all need :)
I am working on fashion week for Lucy. Today wasn't my best effort, jenny_o, but I hope to improve as the month goes along.
DeleteThe strangest thing is when your son and his friend drive through the intersection, and you can see how cool they think they look. :-) True story
ReplyDeleteSo funny as this just happened a few days ago with Kyle and his friend.
DeleteEven though Faith got her license much later, it is a strange feeling to see them take themselves places you used to take them. Now sometimes Faith takes me places; I like it!
ReplyDeleteHe is going to drive me to get some fireworks today!
DeleteI still can’t get over seeing my oldest daughter driving her mini van. It just seems wrong!
