Thought of the day

Kyle is officially hitting the road solo now!
He passed both his written and driving tests just last week, so it’s really happening.
Honestly, it feels surreal watching him come and go on his own—I’m so used to driving him to work or practice that I keep catching myself glancing at the clock, half-expecting to grab my keys.
Just another big leap towards his independence.
I will just be over here sobbing in the corner, thinking about how he will be off to college in about 2 years.
I think I'm going to start dressing Lucy up to make myself feel better.

Thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. So much changes when they get their license. I enjoyed chatting with my captive daughters while taking them somewhere. I also worried a lot about their safety! It's hard to believe that Kyle is THAT OLD.

    1. Yes, it is hard to believe and I am trying to cope with it. I am so happy for him but it is still hard letting go and watching him become more of an adult.

  7. It's fun to look back on those years, but always bittersweet for me. The babies who I'd think of differently according to people... 'just wait until they're two' or four or eight or in braces or dating or whatever... THEN you'll wonder what you were thinking!!

But it wasn't true. I loved every age and every stage and wanted to freeze those moments in time until the next amazing thing happened. Your pride and adoration for your kids shows when you talk about them, and you don't seem to have committed the cardinal sin... forgetting to enjoy the moments. Keep doing that. You'll be happy you did.

  8. OMG Lucy!!!!
And being able to drive is the BEST FEELING ever. I remember that when I got my license I could literally not believe it.
I can imagine how hard snapping out of that routine can be for you, though.

    XOXO

  10. As much as we want our kids to grow up and be independent and live their own lives and be happy - why does it have to happen so fast? But even though it's hard to accept that loss, as parents, I have a feeling you and your kids will maintain the closeness you've had all along, no matter how old they get. And that's something to look forward to.

    Meanwhile, congratulations to Kyle!

Lucy is absolutely magnificent in that get-up. Did you say "July fashion week" to someone in the comments? Please, please do that! This is the content we all need :)
