Thoughts of the day
  • I am sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation as to why the Leap Day falls in February but it would be nice if we could have that extra day in June or September.
  • I was looking back through my blog and this is the first time I have published on February 29.
  • I did post about Leap Day in 2020 but that was on February 28. In re-reading that post, people are still as dumb as ever. Here's what I wrote:
There are days when I fear for humanity and today is one of those days.
People tore Garth Brooks a new one on social media after he performed a concert in Detroit.
If Garth had decided to wear nothing but chaps and a sports bra then I would have been in total agreement with social media.
But Garth wore something more appalling according to these folks.
He wore a Barry Sanders jersey.
For those that don't know, Barry Sanders is a Hall of Fame running back who played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. He wore #20 and is regarded as one of the greatest players ever.
It makes sense to wear the jersey of a beloved figure while performing in that town, right?
Here's the jersey:

The future computational and theoretical physicists of America thought Garth was endorsing Bernie Sanders in 2020.

In my opinion, we haven't evolved much since then and some might even argue that we have gotten dumber especially when it comes to politics.
Thoughts like these should really do wonders for my anxiety and depression.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  2. I had forgotten about the jersey story; and yes people aren't any smarter. Love the clothing tag meme!

  4. Seriously he was in Detroit wearing this Detroit Jersey and they thought it was endorsing Bernie Sanders? Oh my God. Scary. And these people breed. Now me not hearing something said correctly again and making that mistake is different. I'm hearing impaired. Like I thought she said, "breastfeeding to make the biscuits moist" Honest mistake really, not stupid. That is my story and I'm stickin' to it.

  5. There are glimmers of hope, my friend. The dumb have always been with us. It's just that in the old days, we didn't have social media. Dumb has gotten louder, that's all.

    1. Very true, Debby. Social media has given them too much of a voice and it is easier for them to find like-minded folks.

  9. Those tiny plastic bits are so annoying, I have to be sure to catch every single piece when I'm cutting them off new socks or towels in case the cat finds one and tries to eat it.

  10. Number of rodeos, not amount of rodeos. Maybe by your third rodeo you will get it correct, meme-writer.

    2. Sorry for being unclear. I'm not correcting you. I am correcting the meme-writer. I am sure you would never commit such a grievous error that I get all petty about for some reason.

  11. Garth Brooks is still alive? I'm pretty sure I haven't seen him since I went to a concert of his back in the mid 90's.

  12. Ok, so Garth Brooks is ZADDY and he could totally get it.
That being said, the memes are on point and the one about trying to figure out the season TODAY is way too relevant!

  15. I laughed til I cried at the first meme about the toddler :D
Oh yes, many folks are dumber than a bag of rocks, as a friend used to say. But now they get together with their friends on social media and tell each other how right they are about everything. I have to tune it out most of the time. I just don't have the patience. I fully agree that the extra day every four years would have fixed things just as well in June or September. Maybe it was Aussie scientists who came up with February 29!
