Was it what you were expecting?
Too eccentric?
Too eclectic?
Too depressing?
Most of these songs trigger a pretty significant memory for me so maybe I can go into more details about that at another time.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you are feeling fantastic and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
Ooooo.... you have some REALLY good songs on your list! I think I've triggered a few memories of my own just reading the titles.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly.
DeleteI have a number of those songs on my phone favorites list. I'm missing many of the country songs though. If it were my list, I would also add In a Country Churchyard by Chris deBurgh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion, Ed.
DeleteI must admit (okay, not must just want to) that I've never heard of most of these songs. The ones I have heard don't get to me in the onion ducts. Jaded? Maybe. I, however, will cry like a big ol' baby when I listen to Skin by Rascal Flats, Concrete Angel by Martina McBride and Alyssa Lies by John Michael Carroll (I think). My latest waterworks occurred recently when I heard (and saw video) Voice Play's acapella version of Creep.
ReplyDeleteThat's OK, Deedles. I am weirdo when it comes to music but I look forward to checking out the ones you mentioned.
Deletethe best one? Tears on my pillow.
ReplyDeleteI will look into it, YDG.
DeleteI know 15 of them. A couple of them, I knew the song but not the title or artist.
ReplyDeleteNot too shabby, Mike.
DeleteYou've got some good ones there. I like Lewis Capaldi; he's got a documentary on Netflix. I haven't seen it yet because I think it would make me cry.
ReplyDeleteI need to watch that, kden.
DeleteI didn’t know the majority of them, thankfully! Ha! But I’ll be seeing Five For Fighting as the opening act at a concert this Friday. I’m sure they’ll play that. It was the father daughter dance song at my oldest daughter’s wedding.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the show, Bijoux.
DeleteThe Living Years - Mike + The Mechanics. Yes!!! Every time.
ReplyDeleteBut to get me every time, even if I am happy as a clam, play L:inda Ronstadt "Goodbye My friend" and I am dead.
I am going to have to check out the Linda Rondstadt tune, Bob.
DeleteSongs don't make me cry unless I'm already down in the dumps, but your playlist sounds like a pretty good one.
ReplyDeleteTY KG.
DeleteThanks for this fab and eclectic list of emotional songs -- and wow, you provided a link for every one, which is going above and beyond! One of my favourite father/son weepers is Elton John's "The Last Song" which represents so well the emotion surrounding all those who died of AIDS in the 90s. Here's a link to that one --

Thank you, Debra.
DeleteI know and love several of those songs but don't do country, so that takes out quite a number. No matter what mood I'm in Samuel Barber's Adagio makes me weepy.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with that song but I will check it out, Margaret.
DeleteI know eight of those. My favourite George Strait is Write This Down.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one, River.
DeleteI actually really like some of these. I added Peace Train by Cat Stevens to my listening list not too long ago, I had forgotten all about that song.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary. I will look into that one by the Cat man.
DeleteYou Should be Here Cole Swindell. I remember going some place with my son, weeks after his son had died. That song came on the radio. One of the very first times I heard it. We listened to the chorus, his eyes got teary, and he shut off the radio. I can never hear that song without crying, even though it has been almost 6 years.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the song recommendation, Debby. I am very sorry to hear about this tragedy.
DeleteI'm odd, I can cut onions all day and don't have a problem.
ReplyDeleteYou could have just put a period after odd, Dave.
DeleteLewis Capaldi's Wish You The Best video had me in tears. I had heard of him but knew only his biggest hit. I'll be looking up more. He has Talent with a capital T and it's sad that he's having health issues.
ReplyDeleteHe is amazingly talented.
