The name of this blog is Confessions of a Dumb White Guy but it has been a bit since I actually confessed something to you.
Well, buckle up, because I got one.
Mrs. Shife and I watched a movie recently called "A Beautiful Life"  and it made me feel the feels.
I don't want to spoil it for you but there's a song the lead character sings that really got to me because it is about being a dad.
Specifically a girl dad.
Which, I am.
I think I might have mentioned that a few times.
I love my kiddos.
I love being a dad.
And this song took me back to those moments when you have no idea what to expect when it comes to fatherhood, how you are going to handle it, and then, you can't imagine being anything but that guy.
As the movie is winding down and the tears are running down my face, I turned to Mrs. Shife and told her that I have another song to add to my list.
You see I have this super secret playlist.
And they are not bangers as the kids would say.
More like tuggers as they pull at the heartstrings.
I look like I have just spent all day cutting onions while that Sarah McLachlan animal cruelty video is playing on repeat once I start listening to these songs.
The playlist includes songs by Lewis Capaldi, Air Supply, Lionel Richie, Brad Paisley, Warren Zevon, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and now I have added Christopher to that list.
Here's the song from that movie:

I am really thankful for my beautiful life.
I really appreciate you stopping by and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
