This one is from Joanne, who lives in Ohio and is currently trying to convince her new cat that she is nice and they should be friends. She made me and my family wonderful kitchen towels and always gives it to me straight, whether I want to hear it or not.
She asked: Movie suggestion: The Princess Bride, and your take.
I absolutely adore this movie.
It made my top 10 movie list back in 2013 and if I would revisit that topic, it would still be in the top 10.
Especially after watching it with Kyle and Hayden.
One of my goals as a parent was to share this movie with them and I was so happy when that day arrived.
It is also a very quotable movie and I still say a few of them when I get the chance. However, there is one that I say the most because I married a farm girl.
Occasionally, when she asks me to do something I will tell her:
And it is just a great movie.
And it is just a great movie.
It has everything you could ever ask for in a film: romance, adventure, magic, humor, excitement, pirates, sword fights, a six-fingered man, rodents of unusual sizes, screaming eels, a gentle giant and so much more.
So, my take, Joanne, is that I love it and everyone should watch it.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you are doing fantastic and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
I think "As you wish" is the answer each spouse should give to the other!
ReplyDeleteI think so too, Bob.
DeleteI have never seen it, but one of my daughters loves it. I have often heard her say, "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."
ReplyDeleteIt is a great one, Kelly.
DeleteI had only watched it in French for many years since it was a great film to show in class. I can still quote many of the famous lines in French!

DeleteAbsolument génial, Margaret.
I know I have watched it before but I honestly can't remember a thing about it. I probably need to watch it again to verify.
ReplyDeleteYou probably do, Ed.
DeleteI looked at your list. I would pick se7en.
ReplyDeleteFantastic movie, Mike.
DeleteI saw it when it first came out in the movie theatres but haven't rewatched it since. I should do so.
ReplyDeleteYou should, Debra.
DeleteWe went to see it when it first came out and had no idea what it was about. I love that movie! I ended up with a massive crush on Cary Elwes.
ReplyDeleteI ended up with a massive crush on Robin Wright. Oh, Buttercup!
DeleteThat's a movie that both my son and daughter loved and they have recommended it to me numerous times. I like your review and wish more reviews were like that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, jenny_o. It's a classic. I highly recommend it.
DeleteI have never seen it.
ReplyDeleteYou should fix that, Debby.
DeleteI know I saw it on VHS probably a year after it came out. I even remember whose apartment we were at, but I have zero memory of the actual movie.
ReplyDeleteIt is worth a revisit, Bijoux.
Delete'As you wish' is the sneaky 'Yes, Dear' that so many people dread.
ReplyDeleteI love The Princess Bride! Mandy Patinkin?? Yes, please! And twice on Saturdays.
XOXO
He is pretty awesome, Sixpence.
DeleteThank you, Dear DWG, for the kind review of Princess Bride. Everyone's take should be close to the same, or prepare to die. Sadly, I did not outwit my car, or come to any terms with it. I am 80, and while completely able to continue my travail with the car, the better part of valor is to sell it and use the proceeds to Uber to an fro. And since I see my daughter has both sets of keys, along with all the car's paperwork, I'll stick to weaving for the near future
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure, Joanne. Sorry to hear about the car.
Deleteone of my favorite movies and quotes from a movie.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the bestest, YDG.
DeleteI am one of the few in the world who hasn't seen that movie!
