Blogging buddy Bathwater shared this idea for a post update and I decided to use it today because it's better than me talking about how much I currently hate sports (because all of my teams suck) or the weather outside is going to be frightful where I live for the next few days or how I let the things that I just mentioned put me in a bad mood.
Good times.
Hope you are well, thanks for swinging by my corner of the internet and I will talk to you soon.
- Listening = Five Finger Death Punch. Rocking out to close out the year.
- Reading = Currently, the only thing I am reading is lots and lots of content on Reddit. It has become a nightly ritual before I call it a day. I mostly get sucked into /idiotsincars and /publicfreakout.
- Watching = The English, on Amazon Prime.
- Creating = Fudge. During my break from drinking, I knew I would pick up a different hobby or two but I never thought it would be making fudge. I think Peg planted the seed when she mentioned making it using only three ingredients so that inspired me. I have made four batches and my favorite has been the peanut butter fudge.
- Hoping = For decent enough weather over the holiday break so we can get out and enjoy some winter activities.
- Buying = Kleenex because those tissues have become enemy #1 to Lucy the basset hound.
- Loving = Some of the conversations that Mrs. Shife and I have.
- Planning = On seeing "Cocaine Bear" as soon as it hits theaters.
- Missing = Ted. He was a wonderful English Cream Retriever that we watched for a few months while his family moved to a different state. Such a good boy and we instantly fell in love with him. He is part of the reason why we thought we could become a two-dog family. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and died quite suddenly. He wasn't even 5 yet.
Rest in peace, Teddy. - Feeling = Like 2022 went by way too fast. Hard to believe it is going to be 2023 soon.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
I'd never heard of Five Finger Death Punch. I didn't realize there were still heavy metal bands around. They are coming to St. Louis in November 2023 and for $500 I can get down on the field... or not.
ReplyDeleteYikes. I don't like them that much.
DeleteIt is very bad news that Lucy has decided tissues are her mortal enemy at the same tiem that it seems as everyone and their cousins are fighting one respiratory virus after another. Her timing is doggone impeccable.
ReplyDeleteThe tissue war continues, Debby. She is still seeking them out like her little basset butt depends on it.
DeleteNever heard of that band or the show. So much I don't know! I DO know about my teams sucking and nasty forecasts, although yours probably has ours beat. Hope you can do some fun stuff in spite of that. 2022 seems like it should be the new year. I'm not ready for 2023.
ReplyDeleteHNY, Margaret!
DeletePeanut Butter Fudge sounds dee-lish.
ReplyDeleteI agree about conversations with the spouse; I love, and live for, those.
It wasn't too shabby, Bob
DeleteLMAOOO
ReplyDeleteI went out with my girls and they were SMITTEN with Cocaine Bear. I was like, really? The title is literally all there is to that movie, I bet! But they're obsessed.
And I love that you love your convos with Ms.Shife! awwww
XOXO
Thanks, Sixpence
DeleteLol, I guess people really do take their phones into the bathroom! I waste waaaay too much time on a Reddit at night. You can find me obsessing about my health at r/prediabetes which is why I’ll have to skip the fudge 😔
ReplyDeleteI feel lost without my phone in the bathroom
DeleteDownloaded: Being Funny in a Foreign Language by the 1975 - my new fav. I love fudge! Does Lucy just kill the Kleenex, or does she eat some too? Biggie will eat them, and paper towels. Clean up is a cinch.
ReplyDeleteShe rips them as well as eats them, Dave R.
DeleteI hope you have lots of winter adventure weather. By the time it reaches Ohio, it will be quite mild.
ReplyDeleteWe mostly took advantage of the winter weather by swimming inside at the Y
DeleteI would like to place an order for a pound of peanut butter fudge. Please.
ReplyDeleteOK
DeleteLucy! No! One of my cats finds toilet paper to be his arch nemesis. Le sigh.
ReplyDeleteBig le sigh
DeleteYou had me at Cocaine Bear.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome, Ed.
DeleteGood to see the meme lives on. Hope you get that good weather.
ReplyDeleteIt finally arrived, Bathwater
DeleteNellie used to meticulously take out one Kleenex at a time and tear it up and eat most of it. I said that she would be wiping herself from the inside out, ha. Hope you enjoy the snow, those days are long gone for me.
ReplyDeleteSnow is all gone now so I need to find something else to complain about
DeleteI'm glad you like the 3 ingredient fudge recipe. I've mixed choc and peanut butter chips and I admit I prefer that over just peanut butter but hubby likes just pb chips. Hey fudge is good no matter what kind. It's like pizza, even bad pizza is good. :-)
ReplyDeleteCan confirm. Thanks again for planting the seed, Peg.
DeleteI avoid Reddit like the plague because once I get sucked in I can hardly tear myself away! If you are in the mood to be creeped out, try searching "Whats the scariest thing your kid ever said to you"? on Reddit.
ReplyDeleteI am going to take you up on that offer, Jeanette.
DeleteFudge sounds good and we're getting that extreme cold next week!
ReplyDeleteYay for fudge
DeleteI like your post update idea. I may use it as I have no original ideas of my own.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to reading it, JM.
DeleteMy s-i-l likes FFDP but I couldn't tell you anything they do. I'm still listen to too much music from the 80s. The only reading I'm doing right now is trying catch up on some blogs. We watch wayyy too many shows. One we just finished, The White Lotus. I love conversations with my husband!
ReplyDeleteYour SIL has excellent taste. I really enjoyed this season of "The White Lotus."
DeleteFor some reason, my last comment went thru as anonymous. ? Last blog I tried to comment on, it wouldn't go at all. No wonder I am out of blogland so long, can't figure out the glitches in technology. LOL
ReplyDeleteMary from roamingwithmary.blogspot.com
Hi Mary
DeleteI really like Five Finger Death Punch. I've had them as the favorite song of the week on Saturdays a few times.
ReplyDeleteAnd they are from your neck of the woods.
DeleteThe bluetick-beagle mix we had when I was growing up loved tissues too. She used to steal them from people's pockets and my mother's purse. Maybe it's a hound thing. We always thought it was funny but just an individual quirk.
ReplyDeleteMaking fudge is a good life skill to have. Fudge makes a good gift for any occasion, it's good for a bake sale contribution, and it's good enough to be a fancy dessert! Good for you :)
Thanks, jenny_o. I am pausing from the fudge making this month to help out my waistline.
DeleteI'm having problems commenting here.
ReplyDeleteGoogle likes to be difficult sometimes.
DeleteOh I think it went through that time. I was going to say that my partner brought me back some fudge from Dubai last week and it tasted good. I looked at the tin and it said "Made in Scotland". Had to grin. The weather here in the UK is crap here too, anybody would think it was winter or something.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out the fudge from Scotland to see if they make it any differently.
Delete"Cocaine Bear" is destined to be a cult classic, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be too upset about that
