Hot Topic

It's getting hot in here

It can get fairly warm in Idaho during the summer.
We usually get about a week's worth of triple digit weather.
In August.
But, you may have noticed, things haven't really been usual lately.
Our forecast for the week indicates it is going to be hotter than two hamsters farting in a wool sock.

It's only June so the rest of the summer might get interesting.
At least we don't have humidity.
Yet.

Lawn tools

You would think that after playing softball for more than 25 years that I would have it figured out.
Nope.
In search of something to remind me that I am a good player, I was looking for a mantra to repeat to myself when I am playing to stay confident.
And I found my bedazzled rake post from 2018.
So now I am telling myself that "I'm strong. I'm pretty. I'm easy." before I go up to bat.
It makes me laugh and then I end up having a great game.
I am lunatic.
But sometimes you don't question how things get done and just go with it.

Independence Day

What are you doing for the 4th?
Since it is going to be hotter than two rats having sexual relations in the aforementioned wool sock, we are going to be taking lots of trips to the lake and the river.
We are already off to a good start.

Meme dump

I will try and do better.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

    1. We are the same way too, Mary. I usually don't look forward to fall because I love summer but not with the heat this year.

  2. I remember flying into Boise one of the summers I was running a camp in the Sawtooths. I left a hot and humid Pittsburgh, where it was in the upper 80s but with 90% humidity. I was surprised to arrive in Idaho and it was 103 and felt it cooler… A day later I was up in the mountains where we had snow in August. Hang in there and I’ll have to remember that line to tell the police

  3. I'm sorry, I seemed to let our Florida weather get out somehow and it had spread all over the country, oh yeah and Canada too. WTH?! It actually really worries me. I'm glad you don't have the humidity at least, that's the worst!

Of course I had to go try to see the bedazzled rake that didn't exist, but was amused about the pine tree needles in your underwear, that alone was worth visiting the old post for lol.

Trips to the lake and river look and sound like the perfect thing to do during a hot summer. Have a great time with the fam and please don't get yourself lost anywhere along the way.

    Great memes as always!

  4. I like your mantra.I may use it ...

My Dad lives in Oregon, very near the coast, and for them hot is 80-degrees,
It was 95 over the weekend.
Good thing climate change isn't real.

Happy 4th to all the Shifes!

  5. You find the best memes. Ugh on that heat! It’s been in the low 90’s here and the humidity is killing me. My hubby is breaking out the smoker this weekend, so lots of BBQ for the 4th. Have a good one!

  6. Between rodent farts and sex fluids, that's gonna be one rancidly funky sock!
Centaur for Disease Control, HAH! This reminds me how I always said Shimera for Chimera until I heard it pronounced in the second Mission Impossible movie. I'm ashamed. I loved Greek mythology in high school. Of course, that was close to fifty years ago so one forgets.
You keep up that mantra. If it ain't broke and all that.

    1. Yes, indeed, Deedles. That sock might need to go to the dry cleaner or the dump. I will keep up on that mantra and you have a good one. Thank as always for stopping by and saying hello.

  8. Right now it is 113. Better than what
they predicted 116. And no rolling
blackouts. I'll take it. All the kids,
on the coast are managing. I just
hope this all eases up for this part
of the country. Talked to SIL last
night and heard all about Frizzle's
    swimming. You all take care!

  10. "Two hamsters in a wool sock", I'll have to remember that one. These extreme temperatures all over the country are making me wonder what's going on. Like Bob said: "Good thing climate change isn't real."

We'll be home for the 4th but for sure Tom will BBQ! You all have a wonderful holiday weekend and enjoy the water!

The hottest temp I ever experienced in my area was a 109F in August a few years back. I couldn't imagine 110+ anywhere in the US outside of the Arizona desert. But then I couldn't imagine that we'd just keep destroying the planet as we have. :/

Hope you and your family have a great July 4 weekend. Stay cool & hydrated!

  14. That kitty! LMAOOOO
And it's been in the upper seventies with rain EVERY day here for two weeks now. You can cut the humidity with your finger. There's a little pond at the end of the street and the little piers they have there are submerged already. Have been for a week. There's flash flood warnings every day. But like Bob said, no global warming.
A bedazzled rake? I need one.

    XOXO

  15. Those lake, river pix are where you need to be all week. Hope you get relief soon. 100 with or with out humidity is too damn hot. Would you sit in a dry 100degree oven? No! So it doesn't matter to me, dry or wet, its too hot if 100 degrees. I'd like to live where it is never hotter than 80.

  20. We've had a couple hot ones here, but the humidity just makes most of summer less enjoyable than it could be. I think yesterday was about 70% humid.
No big plans for the rest of the weekend, but tonight our town is doing fireworks so we're having family over for a bbq and also a b.d. celebration before the boom booms.
Enjoy your lake trips! Cute photos!! ~Mary
