Mr. Shife's February Frenzy Day 21

Another day, another dose of Mr. Shife's good times:

  • More Frizzle. This is another game she likes to play when we go out. I throw the ball up the slide and she waits to see if it will come back. When she was a puppy, she would actually climb into the slide to try and follow the ball.
  • Putting down roots. I was always envious of kids that grew up in the same town. As a military brat, we moved around quite a bit and I went to several different schools so going to school with the same kids wasn't an option. There are definitely pros to being a military brat but again I was a little jealous of my college friends that had buddies since kindergarten. Maybe I have watched too many movies and romanticized the idea. Anyway, I am currently living vicariously through Kyle and Hayden as they have had some friends that they met when they were in preschool.
  • It's Sunday which means it is still the weekend.
  • Trying to be a good dad and all, I also watch shows with Hayden. She is definitely not ready for "Malcolm in the Middle." For the love of fat bassets, she would get inspired. Now that the football season is over, we got sucked into a show called "Tough As Nails." It's not the most favorite thing I have ever watched but watching it with Hayden makes up for it.

I will try and do better tomorrow.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. My dentist has hydromassage chairs. I wonder how much that installation cost. I love them.

  2. Um. It kind of seems like Mrs. Frizzle has you trained. She's taught you how to play catch in a manner that allows her not to have to chase that dang ball.

  3. Wait. You get massaged by little squirrel hands at the gym??!?!?

  4. being a brat I sympathize. I would envy my cousin when we would go back to Mesquite, they knew all about each other...I knew only what they wanted me to know. I live in a town where not only do most people knew each other since first grade, so did their parents and their grandparents. Scary shit. But I wouldn't trade my life for any of theirs.

    1. I like to romanticize but I am pretty happy how it all turned out.

  5. The Ms. Frizzle video is great! She looks so happy and excited over that game.

I hear you on not having roots as a child. Growing up we moved every two or three years due to my Dad's job and I hated it. I made sure I put down roots when I had my two sons so they lived in the same place kindergarten through graduation and we still live here. I planted some deep roots! It sounds like you did too and Kyle and Hayden now benefit from that!

  7. Ok, I had no idea what a hydromassage chair was. Now I do. I'm torn.
Frizzle is a riot! Doggies always have the most hysterical routines.
As for going to school with the same dudes for years and years can get old. I had the same classmates from first grade through tenth and there are some of them I could not wait to ditch. Really. I have gotten along much better with people I met after I graduated high school.
And Malcolm in the Middle is fun!

    XOXO

  11. My dog was one of the best fetchers ever. Unfortunately he was one of the worst releasers ever too so if we wanted to play fetch more than once, it meant I had to pry the object he retrieved from his mouth which wasn't very easy to do and only contributed to the slobber on my hands and object.

    1. Ms. Frizzle understands the game well so she drops without much resistance.

  12. I was lucky to be in the same school district K-12 and am still friends with people I knew back then. My oldest friendship is 54 years old, even though she moved to Michigan when were were 10. We still keep in touch. My husband still watches American Idol and America’s Got Talent with our middle child, even though he’s not a fan. I draw the line at that!

  13. I watched shows like Star Wars Clone Wars with my kids when they were little. Some are better than I thought. Today there are a lot of shows to watch but little that is good.

  14. I commiserate with you on the childhood friends....my Dad was in the Air Force and we moved a bit too. But the moving around really started when I graduated high school, so I guess I have a little gypsy blood! If my husband would put up with it, I'd be looking to move again (Colorado or maybe Nevada). He's the tree in our relationship ~ he keeps us all rooted. :)

  15. It might be worth it to go to the gym just for the massage chairs. I grew up in the same town as I live now. There are advantages and disadvantages. We know a bit too much about each other sometimes.

  16. Ms. Frizz has that spinning down! I used to go to a gym that had a hydro massage bed. Ten minutes was NOT enough.
