Year of The Ox

January update: Dry January turned into Dry-ish January but I haven't had any booze since mid-January.
One more January in that sentence and someone would have won Bingo.
I also quit eating gluten because I was feeling bloated.
And feeling bloating leads to the pig-with-an-apple-in-its-mouth-at-a-luau look, which isn't a great look in case you were wondering.
So I did all of that and guess what happened?
I gained weight.
I feel like Ox.

Johnny C

I miss John Candy.
What is favorite John Candy movie?
Cool Runnings, Uncle Buck and Planes, Trains and Automobiles are some of my favorites.
I knew he died young but I was a little surprised that he was only 43.

Kyle the Entrepreneur

Thanks for the bookmark orders. Kyle has been busy.
I need addresses from a few people (I'm talking to you Bob, anne marie in philly, silly rabbit and Jackiesue) so please send over an email to me at mshifley@gmail.com to coordinate everything.
He also received a letter from Cup On The Bus today but he isn't home from school yet so it's still a mystery but I am sure it's wonderful because Joanne is awesome.

February Frenzy

Reminder that I am going to blog every day in February.
It might be the greatest thing to happen to February since Punxsutawney Phil.
I still think Phil's best work happened here:

Where's Bill?

I am doing a horrible job of being the unofficial official blog of Bill Murray.
This is his first mention since October 2020.
I am sorry, Mr. Murray.
I will try to do better but most likely will not.
But since I am thinking about it, here's a Murray fact: Murray was the first-ever guest that David Letterman had on his Late Night show in 1982. He would also end up being the last guest to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman in 2015.

Memes of the week

Well, that is all for now.
Take care, thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. I just sent you my address.

"planes, trains, and automobiles" - best damn movie ever (next to groundhog day and animal house, of course).

"groundhog day" was NOT filmed in punx, but some town in indiana. the pittsburgh overhead shots were real.

  4. I remember the thrill of that first letter addressed to me. I doubt the current crop of kids are like that, especially an entrepreneur kid.

  6. DIL Nikki was the first one to get a shot
in our gang over here. She works with folks
who need help and live in group homes. They
are thrilled to have her and she's a supervisor
    now.
You all take care and be well, xoxo :-)

  7. Animal House and Blues Brothers are some of my favorites. Yes, we lost a great comedian way too soon. Congratulations to Kyle for being a talented businessman! Maybe he will give you an allowance soon! ; )

  8. John Candy seemed older than that to me. I loved him in "Uncle Buck." A silly, but poignant film. I had some beer on NYE but have been dry ever since. But I don't often drink anyway, so it's pretty easy.

  10. I nearly puke every time I watch the scene from Planes, Trains and Automobiles where they get pulled over by the cop after their car burned. Every time!

  11. I've not been too good about what I've been eating this year. There's about 10 pounds between the end of the year and now. I feel ya.
John Candy. Still miss that guy too. My childhood was watching him, even Camp Candy, which I loved.

  12. Loved Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Faith put the hammer down on us buying junk food so I'm going to go with it. Sure wouldn't hurt any of us.

    2. Spaceballs...that was so funny. And of course Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Cool Runnings. Taken too soon! I hadn't realized how young he was when he passed.
