Going Out For A Spin

  • A touch of vertigo this week.
Seems about par for the course for the year.
    Never had it before.
I don't really want to have it again.
It was pretty miserable on Wednesday.
Anytime I bent my head down or laid down, the room would start spinning.
And keep spinning for about 10 seconds.
    Not awesome.
According to Dr. Google, it was an allergic reaction to some medicine I was taking.
I felt it a little bit yesterday and today.
I might have to see a real doctor if it continues.
  • So vertigo on Wednesday and I thought what can I do to make it possibly worse.
    How about donating blood?
The appointment was made before I got the spins but I was still a little apprehensive about it because sometimes people pass out during or after the procedure.
I have never had a problem donating blood before, but, you know, it's 2020.
    And vertigo.
  • Then on Thursday night, I turned into this guy:

  • I got all hooked up for a sleep study at home because I might have sleep apnea.
It wasn't too bad but you have to sleep on your back and I am a side/stomach sleeper.
  • To borrow a line from my good friend, Carl Spackler:

  • I can really, really relate to that kid.
I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  2. Oh my, 2020 has been bad enough but you have really had a bad June! Vertigo is not fun at all. I can't believe you still gave blood. I hope you did okay with the sleep study. My husband had one of those and found out he has sleep apnea. He has slept with a C-Pap machine for years. He even takes it when we travel. I hope you feel better soon and that vertigo goes away for good!

  4. I've never had that problem, thank Mary, Jesus and Joseph, but a good friend has it. She stays in bed and takes too many steroids. Not good. You take care of it, please. OK.

    1. I am doing my best, Joanne. It does appear to be a reaction to medicine as I have had less and less of it each day.

  5. Good grief man, you need to slow it down a bit! I have vertigo often; lately off and on for the last 3 weeks, I feel your spins. Oh and I did pass out the last time I gave blood; hope you fared better. I hope next week goes better for you :)

  7. I remember my face looked like that kids the first time I walked into a life drawing class in my teens. After a couple of months I'd seen and drawn so many different naked bodies that I felt completely indifferent to all of them.

    1. I couldn't even imagining doing that as a teenager. I think I would probably get asked to leave due to my giggling. It takes us boy awhile to get our shit together.

  8. I was supposed to do a sleep study, they called *right* after the plague hit and offered me a virtual appointment. Which doesn't sound useful to me, so I just never called them back.

But after seeing the photo of you with all that stuff on your face, it sounds so much more exciting!! NOT.

    1. I don't blame you, Ami. It wasn't on my bucket list for sure. I am hopeful it will provide some reasons why I sleep like hot garbage at night.

  9. So sorry to hear that. Vertigo to me was the equalivant of being sea sick. It felt the exact same way to me. Damn then a sleep study. My husband had one and he said there was no sleeping in a sleep study since it was strapped to his chest and he is a side sleeper and he was up all night. I think we need a 2020 reboot. This year has sucked for us all. Good Luck!

    1. I am a side sleeper as well and it definitely felt like I didn't sleep at all. A reboot sounds good to me.

    1. I would love to know more details about that photo but I am thinking it might have been photoshopped. However, it is 2020 so maybe it really happened.

  11. It's been a rough year. Hope you get some relief!! My husband had the sleep study many years ago. Results weren't severe, doc suggested the mask anyway, but he declined.
I have had general motion sickness most of my life. And sometimes the more severe vertigo has sent me to the ER. Sometimes it's been so bad I need meds to stop vomiting. I cannot ride in the back seat of a car, or on public transportation. I've been on airplanes but it's very difficult and can only go a few hours and am still usually sick. Different things can trigger it, even crying too long. I have meds, but further testing was suggested. I haven't felt up to it..yet.. because those tests can cause the dizziness, nausea, etc.

  13. So far a bit of prescription medicine, melatonin supplements and working out has me sleeping soundly at night. By rights I should be comatose based on all of that.

  14. I'm sure I read this but it's clear I forgot to comment because I did have something to say but it's not here. lol

I had a sleep test done too and was just barely over the threshold to need a CPAP machine so I thought I should give it a try. Unfortunately, I just could not tolerate it and was told I could probably compensate just by making sure to sleep on either side instead of my back. So that's what I do. Just a thought while you're waiting for results, or if you can't tolerate the machine. Most folks can though. My boss uses one - put it on the first night and never had a problem at all. Good luck.
