T-Minus 17 Days

It's time to answer one of those questions that I requested.
The first one up is from my dear and talented friend, kden.

Back in 2016, I had surgery to get my single-sided deafness fixed
It was pretty awesome and a game-changer.
One of the main reasons I don't talk about it that much is because I don't hardly notice it except when I am not wearing it and I try to wear it most of the time.
Unfortunately, I have noticed it quite a bit lately because I did something really dumb.
This blog is called Confessions of a Dumb, White Guy for a reason.
I guess it's time to confess.
My BAHA (bone-anchored hearing aid) device accidentally went through the washing machine.
And it's pretty much ruined.
I need to get a new one but I have to work with the insurance company to get everything sorted out.
Unfortunately, the insurance companies are a little busy right now and my BAHA isn't at the top of their priority list.
Fortunately, my audiologist gave me a loaner to use until I can get a new one.
My little accident is going to cost me a few bucks but I am grateful that I can get it replaced and it could be a whole lot worse.
Is that a good answer, kden?

I really tried to inject some humor in this post but it's hard because I am sort of depressed that my stupidity forgetfulness is going to cost me.

Or maybe I was set up?

Come back tomorrow for the exciting conclusion to this riveting tale.
But don't get your hopes up.
I will probably talk about something else and throw up some GIFs like this one:

I hope to do better tomorrow.
Stay safe, take care and thanks for being there.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. That is a great answer; well mostly.....But I'm happy that it is working and it's great you have a loaner until you can get another one. Our schools are also out till fall. God Bless all the parents out there!

  2. Wow, how wonderful you were able to get the cochlear implant! Don't feel too bad about the washing machine incident as it happens to all of us. I'm sure that must be a pricey mistake but hopefully the insurance company will come through and help out. It's great your doctor could help you in the meantime. My husband is always sending all kinds of items through the wash and actually some of them survive. I will admit I left my debit card in my pocket and never saw it again - until about six years later when the washer stopped draining and the repairman pulled it out!

  3. There's always help when you need it, and oh boy did/do you need it. Seriously I am sympathetic, honest I am. I mean, I might need your sympathetic ear myself one day. Please make sure you are fixed up in time lololololol.

    Take care!

  4. I think we've all put stupid things in the washing machine. I'm glad you were able to borrow a spare one for now. That poor dog in the last gif, that was an epic fail. :D

  5. Oh, trust me. We have all done terribly silly things that end up costing up a lot of money (and even grief). Hopefully you'll be able to get a new one after all this is done (or at least we recover some semblance of normalcy).

    XOXO

  6. I think we've all done something like that. It's hard to remember how many trash cans and dumpsters I went through to find something small, yet expensive, like my retainer. I'm glad it helps you out so much. I've really tried to take care of my hearing the past few years, as I have noticed a bit of hearing loss in my right ear. It took nearly going deaf at my first Peacemakers show to kick me into wearing earplugs at shows.

  8. Well, I bet you've learned to check all your pockets before you put your pants in the laundry.

  10. Oh no - through the wash? I can imagine how awful it would feel when you realized that. It's good you have a loaner.
