T-Minus 15 Days

The next question comes from my new blogging friend, Bonnie.
She is great and I am glad to welcome her into the blogosphere.

1.

I think I could be fairly good but the biggest problem I have is taking the time to do it. I usually let Mrs. Shife take care of kitchen duties and I fire up the old BBQ. Since we have been getting some decent weather, I have barbecued quite a bit lately and the last items were pork chops and brauts.

2. I remember my favorite cartoon as a kid was a "Speed Racer" and boy, oh, boy does that not hold up. It's extremely outdated and kinda scary that it was part of my daily routine.

Speaking of shows that aren't politically correct, I did also watch me some "Dukes of Hazzard."

Wow. Two shows about fast cars and I could care less about NASCAR. But Dukes of Hazzard did feature a basset hound and that is something I still care about.
And I look pretty good in Daisy Dukes.

I hope to do better tomorrow.
Stay safe, take care and thanks for being there.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Thanks for answering my questions with those great answers! So you are a bar-b-que King, alright! You two sound like us - I cook inside and Tom handles the grill.

I remember those TV shows well but from my two sons' early years. Actually the Dukes of Hazzard were a big deal around our house. My youngest loved Mr.T and I kind of think my oldest liked the girl.; ) My 18 year old grandson has a nickname of Speed Racer - should I worry?!

    Thanks for your answers!

  2. Speed Racer....ggrrr when my sons were young I couldn't let them watch speed racer..I thought it was too violent.so one day when Thom was a grownup he calls me and said guess what I'm doing? I said I don't know Thom what are you doing..? he said I'm watching speed racer and you can't stop me..laughed hysterically and hung up..
so I got into my jeep drove across town, knocked on his door and when he opened it I walked in turned his tv off and left..laughed all the way home.

  4. Now I'm thinking about Daisy Dukes!
And I applaud your commitment to grilling. I, on the other hand, stay away from any cooking surface. I would not make anybody eat what I cook.
Have you seen the Speed Racer movie? The Wachowskis directed it and I think it's visually stunning.

    XOXO

  5. This is a regional difference. Here in the South, "barbecue" refers to smoking meats for hours in a smoker. Everything else is referred to as "grilling". Of course, here every single soft drink (Pepsi, Coke, Mountain Dew, etc) is referred to as "Coke". I don't know what I would do without my grill. Glad you're good at it. It's an art.

  6. Ah, barbeque! We just ordered a small table top charcoal grill ~ our gas grill is convenient, but doesn't quite add the flavor a charcoal grill does.

My Dad watched Dukes of Hazard, and since we only had one TV, my sister and I watched it too......and were slightly jealous of those short shorts. The parents did not approve, so we didn't wear them until we flew the coop. :-)

  7. Never watched Dukes of Hazard - my
    pop culture references are skewed.
    Take care, stay safe.

  10. Our household has the same division of labour - husband does the grill and I do everything else. In the summer it's a huge break for me from cooking all the time.

We watched Dukes of Hazzard too (as adults) - I wish there were more programs on like that now. I'm not a fan of reality TV!
