Random Acts of Shifeness - Leap Year

  • Happy Leap Day Eve!!
  • Besides having an extra day to shower me with your adoration and affection, do you have any big plans for your extra day in 2020?
  • As for me, I'm gonna let you guys do what you guys gotta do. Don't worry about me, I'm just gonna go home, make a little macaroni and cheese, seal the windows and turn on the gas.
  • And that's not true. It's a quote from a movie I watched way too many times in college and I'm afraid to watch it again because it probably doesn't hold up.
  • Any guesses on the movie?  It starred Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and John James Belushi. The film was originally released in 1986 and got re-made in 2014 but this version starred Kevin Hart. The answer is right here.
  • There are days when I fear for humanity and today is one of those days.
People tore Garth Brooks a new one on social media after he performed a concert in Detroit.
If Garth had decided to wear nothing but chaps and a sports bra then I would have been in total agreement with social media.
But Garth wore something more appalling according to these folks.
He wore a Barry Sanders jersey.
For those that don't know, Barry Sanders is a Hall of Fame running back that played in the NFL for the Detroit Lions. He wore #20 and is regarded as one of the greatest players ever.
It makes sense to wear the jersey of a beloved figure while performing in that town, right?
    Here's the jersey:

The future computational and theoretical physicists of America thought Garth was endorsing Bernie Sanders in 2020. If you do a Garth Brooks search on Google you will read of plenty of WTF?

Of all the things you can be on the Internet, I am always surprised at how many decide to be dumb. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised because Roger Clyne warned me many years ago:
"Everyone knows that the world is full of stupid people."

Have a great weekend, enjoy your extra scoop of February and talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

    2. You lost me at Belushi. Those three were in a film together? Almost half of the Brat Pack and Bluto? Well, now I have to clink on that link...

    4. That IS crazy, isn't it? Whoa.

I think April or May should have that extra day that February's always gotten, by the way. It's too cold in February to prolong that misery :)

Have a great week, Mr. S and family.

    6. It always scares me that unintelligent people get to choose who is going to run a country.

    7. The months are flying by. I swear they are going faster this year than last. I am a May bird, therefore I insist on having an extra day in that month. Enjoy the rest of this month and don't do anything I wouldn't do.

    8. Well, you do have to remember that Trumpanzees are not really renowned by their intelligence.
Garth can still WEAR those jeans. Damn.

    10. I celebrated Leap Day by setting up the new rug in the living room and then making a 'Big Lebowski' reference that the kids did not get. They're still a little young for The Dude.

    11. Well, to be completely honest... I don't mind a dude in a jersey.

      Especially if it's a jock! ^.^

    12. The leap day was a working day for me. There are so many little things to be completed before the start of the week. Obviously I was busy. Good to see someone planning a leap day eve. A day that shows up once every 4 years has to be special, right?
