Random Acts of Shifeness - Reading Books

  • Kyle got the second Harry Potter book for his birthday, which was a Sunday. He finished the book on Tuesday night. It's 341 pages long. Did I mention that he went snowboarding and to a movie on his birthday as well? Then he had school on Monday and Tuesday. Not a lot of free time in there but the dude loves to read.
  • Here's the print out of the library books that I needed to track down that were due recently. Hayden also had some books on there as well but mostly Kyle. For those of you scoring at home, that's 8 pages with about 7-8 books per sheet.
  • April challenge: Paleo diet. I am mostly eating fruits, veggies and tasty animals.
  • Again, for those of you scoring at home: Dry January, No Added Sugar February and Blogging Daily March.
  • I updated my blog description so it will be interesting to see what kind of new visitors I get from it.

  • We are getting some sunshine today and tomorrow. We are rather excited about it because it has been raining a lot around here. We got two new ponds after one day of rain and they were a big hit with Hayden and Ms. Frizzle.

  • Kyle and Hayden were Minecraft twins while they played Minecraft. I like those two a lot.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope all is well in your corner of the world and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Good for Kyle! Reading is such an important skill, and the more kids read, the better they get. Reading helps you to succeed in all areas, because if you can read, you can figure stuff out.

I hope the sun hangs around your place for awhile! And I love how you always say you "like" your kids a lot - clearly an understatement, and a wonderful thing to see.

  2. It's a rich blessing to raise kids that love to read....as an avid reader myself, it makes for a life long journey of discovery! Not to mention the larger vocabulary...

Right now I'm fasting for Lent (no meat or dairy). I have not lost any weight ~ sure wish I had...but I do want to try the paleo diet once Lent is over (April 28). One person I know has lost nearly 20 pounds since February.

Giving up sugar will be hard though.....Good luck!

  3. I remember S sitting on the front porch watching
for the mail lady the day one of the Harry Potter
books was released. The mail lady spotted her, pulled
over and walked the book up to her. :-)

  4. Sounds like April should be a tasty month!

Huzzah for Kyle and his love of reading. I have to admit, I did not recognize any of the titles on the first page of over-due list. My over-due list would have included Judy Blume books & The Phantom Tollbooth, for sure.

    Exquisite.

Greetings from me for Kyle and Hayden.

  6. My younger daughter loved to read, then her friends told her it wasn't cool so she stopped. So frustrating. But she's still a massive Harry Potter fan.

  7. Hey there, Matt. So this is your new home! I have visions of Kyle turning into a journalist or something to do with writing. Hope I'm around long enough to see how he gets on.

  8. Faith used to read a lot too, she would do all of the summer challenges and her shelves are still full of her favorites. You better get hunting for those books!

  9. I raised two avid readers, too. Not a bad thing. Your body will do well on your new diet. Especially if you honestly give up processed food, refined sugar, literally all that garbage not invented in the nineteenth century.

  11. When I saw the blog description, I knew that something was new on it.
Don't feel too bad about the library books. We just did that same thing in my house.
