Random Acts of Shifeness - Updates

  • I needed a break from all of the "good" news I have been seeing lately on Twitter and Facebook so I checked out Instagram. I also had to do some research for work to see how my employer can possibly use it to help with recruiting efforts.
  • There's still a lot of pollution on Instagram but it's definitely a lot nicer than the other two social media networks. You can pay me a visit if you want and say hello. And I bet you will never guess what kind of pictures I have shared? There might be one or two that you haven't seen. ðŸ™ƒ
  • Kyle's adventures into the nerdom empire continue as he wrapped up coding camp this week. He loved it and he built his own website. Because of obvious reasons, the site was never published but he shared it with me at the open house today. Lots of pictures of puppies and penguins. Next up for the big guy is robotics camp.

  • I love being able to let Kyle do the things that interest him and nurturing those passions. It's just completely different for me because I spent my summers playing sports. But I have come to accept the fact that my son is more interested in coding or engineering than playing catch with his old man. And that's OK.
  • Kyle and Hayden's school is getting some upgrades this summer. One of them is a new playground. And it's going in right behind our house so they just have to open the gate and there's a fancy schmancy playground. You are welcome, children.

  • Another photo of Frizzle with her eyes closed.

  • A better photo of Ms. Frizzle
  • The SSSSS is back. I shaved it off and I missed it. It's still a little baby but once it has blossomed then I will share the 'stache.
  • Well, that's all for this week, folks. Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful weekend and talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.

  1. It's still possible to be insulted by strangers on instagram, but it's never a guarantee the way it is on twitter and facebook. Which is a strange and somewhat refreshing break...

Youngins should probably all know how to code. I'm about tech-savvy enough to turn the computer on, and that probably means I won't be marketable for much longer...

    Going to look at Instagram!

  3. I intentionally ignore a lot of things on Facebook; too much negativity and I can do that all by myself.
Again, I appreciate your words of support. This is not easy, and it is a long way away from being good, but the support of friends like you has made all the difference.
I was hoping to see some words on the Roger Clyne show!

  4. Good looking playground. May the kids enjoy it!

Coding camp sounds like a fun thing for children so inclined. When I was a kid we didn't have camp (save for family camping trip). We went to the mall and played video games. An acquaintance of mine sent her girl child to a rock music camp. I heard it went well.

Instagram is, for me, a political neutral place. -just pretty pictures, please.

  5. I'm not on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I like to avoid drama.

I look forward to seeing the 'stache photo.

  6. Young Kyle is going to make some fat money some day. Maybe our rich sons can move us into the same dope-ass retirement community!!!!!

  7. Kids are growing up so comfortable with technology - it's a whole different ballgame from the struggles many of us older people have had. My mom told me once of seeing a toddler in a waiting room trying to swipe a picture on a magazine page. She couldn't get it to work :)

Anyway, kudos to the little guy on his skills!

And how awesome is that to have a new playground being built right in your back yard? That's some good planning by the parental units, I believe :)

  8. I gave up Facebook etc years ago. I didn't like all the nastiness that went on so I quit. Have ever regretted it.

I am always astonished at the way youngsters take to present day technology. My brain never seemed to work when I was a kid, but then there was nothing technical to bother me. Playing the piano was the hardest thing I had to learn.

  9. Sorry I missed this week; still hate that we don't get notifications on comments. I started following you on IG, I agree that it's a neutral place. Kyle looks deeply engrossed in his work, awesome!
