Random of Acts of Shifeness - C is for Crazy

  • So much craziness to talk about. Where do I start? I will also be showing off my thesaurus skills. Prepare to be amazed. When you hear the word thesaurus does it make you think of a dinosaur joke? No. So it's just me?

  • It's going to be bonkers to the berserker degree here in Idaho. They are expecting up to a million people to visit us over the next few days for the 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. I think it's nuts that people are going this cuckoo over the eclipse but I think it's because I am slowly become more and more like the Clint Eastwood character in "Gran Torino."

  • How can this be? It's insane to think that my Hayden Belle will be going off to kindergarten next week. Her world is going to get a lot bigger now. I know I have to let her go but I don't want to. Where is that pause button?

  • And this guy will be in 3rd grade. I am going to be nuttier than a squirrel's breakfast.
  • And the straw that might break the one-humped camel's back and make me looney tunes is that Ms. Frizzle turned 1. The past year seemed to fly be. It feels like we went from this

to this in a blink of an eye.

  • Well that's enough talk about my mental facilities and the march to madness. I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. 96% here.
Brother and family coming up from SF to Medford to
take care of folks/bills/etc. He is going to try
and get as far north as possible. Friend in Bend, 99%.
Last one I saw was in Moscow, ID. in 1979. Sky went from dark gray
and threatening rain to black and back to dark gray again.
Good luck with the new school year!

  2. You know, even I can't believe Hayden is starting kindergarten next week. Not everyone can say that they had a total solar eclipse their first day of school. We're excited, but I totally understand your dilemma on it. That's like beach season here in Florida. Sort of.

  3. From this point on life will appear to move even faster for you. Our little boy is 37 and I just can't believe it.

  4. We're on the Oregon coast now (planned too early to even know about the eclipse) and we haven't seen traffic any different than usual. Maybe by Sunday though... Hayden's only going to be in K-Garden? She should be in high school about now! And what a beautiful dog the Frizz has turned out to be.

  5. I can't believe your little girl has grown into a big girl so quickly. It was the same with her brother. As for Ms Frizzle, she makes me want my labs back... sob! Have a great week, Matt.

  7. I'm as puzzled as you are about the popularity of the eclipse. It's a giant shadow. So what? But to each his/her own, I guess. That is a whole lot of people to be converging in one region, though.

You just wait, Mr. S. Another blink and your kids will be in high school. Another blink and they'll be finished of school. We found the time especially went fast once they both had hit junior high. Enjoy every minute now. I miss when ours were the ages of your two now. You have very cute kids.

And Ms Frizzle has grown up super fast. Lordy.

  8. I tried to get glasses for our grands, but by the time I thought of it most local places were out of stock and the price gouging started online so that was that.
I don't know when I got old enough for kids...it's all a blur. lol Our oldest grandboy is now 10.
    Good luck tomorrow.

  10. I hear you on the pause button. My little guy was doing all kinds of funny tricks. I had him trained like your little puppy to shake his head, sniff his nose, make fart noises, stick out his tongue . . . But now he's talking and I'm like, slow down, mo-fo!!!!!
