It is almost June so I better post something

Wow. I am really getting bad at updating this blog of mine.
I have been busy.
I joined this new club where some of the amazing benefits include getting puked, peed, and peeped on by a little person. No it is not some sort of S&M German midget dominatrix outfit. It is just fatherhood.
Baby Shifley has been a joy but I am starting get a little nervous because Mrs. Shife goes back to work next week so it is just going to be me and the little man. I am not sure who is going to cry more - me or him.
We also have had non-stop visitors for the past few weeks so I had to put the No Vacancy sign in front of the house to give us a little peace and quiet and try to get Baby Shifley on a routine before we are home alone.
So what else has been going on?
  • I am still not succumbing to Twitter. Somebody has to give at least 3 good reason to get on there. To me it it is just the digital version of the Macarena. Suck it Twitter.
  • I saw "Star Trek" and "Wolverine." I really liked one of them. The one I didn't like rhymes with Trollverine.
  • Looking forward to seeing the new "Terminator" movie.
  • I really liked the "Lost" finale even though it left me with so many more questions and wanting more but isn't that what a good TV show is supposed to do.
  • Now the season finale of "24" was not so good in my humble opinion. It was a pretty good season but the last few episodes really dragged on and the finale was a little disappointing.
  • Baby Shifley went on his first road trip and did great. The fat basset almost got thrown in the river but the little man did awesome after spending nearly 8 hours in the car.
  • Baby Shifley will be hitting the road again next month for stops in Washington state, Illinois, and Missouri so please check your local listings for times and dates in those areas.
Well that is about it. Pretty boring, huh? Hopefully once the baby and I get into a routine I will post more frequently. Hope everyone is doing well, and I guess I better include a baby shot for those of you interested in seeing my little buddy.

  1. Him sweet. And in demand as well. Good to keep the demanding public at bay for a bit for a little "getting to know each other" time.

"Trollverine". LOL! And yes I have to agree.

  2. Holy moley he's soooo cute! I see your car seat is a good one too... good job dad! This old mom/g'mom approves. You sir will be fantastic with that boy alone. It's gonna be one of the best highs of your life. Relax! Enjoy!

I drove from Fresno,Ca to the top of Oregon in a Austin Healy Sprite (it's the forerunner to an MG Midget)wit a crazed manx cat and a bassett hound that barked until she went too horse to bark, then just continued to make chuffing sounds all the rest of the way. Drove the bran new husband insane... wasn't sure if I'd get there with both of them or not.

Thanks for sharing the baby pic...love it. Take your time, pa. But it is great to see you again. And thanks for stopping in today! Big grin.

  3. he's a beauty! very well accessorized too.

my first day alone with junior was very stressful so if you're feeling stressed, relax, it's part of the experience.

  4. I too saw Star Trek and I was very impressed with it. And I'm not a Star Trek fan. Do you think seeing it on an IMAX screen had anything to do with it? Glad you and "the little buddy" are getting along. Hi Mrs. Shifley!!!

  5. Damn, that's one cute baby.

Speaking as a stay-at-home mother, who stayed at home with the baby too while hubby went to work...well, it's not so bad really. And you have blogging to save your sanity too--I wish I'd had that!

  6. Okay. I am a baby expert and I deem that baby to be far too cute for human consumption.
    Oh my.

  9. I remember thinking all the time, "oh, I'll do that while he's napping" and when it came to nap time what was I doing? Why, napping, of course!

Hi lil' Shife. You look smart.

  10. Awww... look at the little Shiflette. Are you taking him to a Cards game in Missouri?

  11. yes, this post was pretty boring. you know i'm kidding, but seriously...

    who's the midget?
to quote LBSeahag, "I can't wait til he's old enough to date."

Looking forward to seeing Wolverine actually, but at least now i know to wait until i can borrow it for free from the library.

I remember stressing out about Rob's first week back to work. Of course, Crofton was 9 months old and no one ever came to visit because of my ultimate lameness...and because my child was perfect, he came with his own schedule that i just had to read the manual to figure out... so i guess your worry-induced stress is just a smidge more intense than mine was.

    Smidge rhymes with midge.
i think i will call Kyle Smidget from now on.

man i'm funny. that was all just off the top of my head.

Smidget. that's awesome. I should probably copyright that. You can have it though. It's all yours.

Oh, and when are you going back to work? An unemployed SASSY is one unhappy SASSY.

So happy for you guys :) He's sooo adorable! Next post though? we, your loyal readers, want a pic of 'The Smidget' with Quincy. You know, even if Quincy is too drunk to notice.

    Oh. My. God.

He is damn cute!!! Welcome to the puke and pee club! Just wait until that boy of yours starts potty-training. It gets real fun then.

Glad to see you posting again!

  14. Hi baby. No, I'm not talking to him, I'm talking to you. But he's cute too! I guess I'll just have to start saying "Hi Babies!"

You're going to be fine as a single-stay-at-home-dad (SSAHD)while mom's away. I have some suggestions (let's forever call then "Sueisms":

    1) Buy a bottle of Midol. Apparently it fixes everything.

    2) Have the psychologist/psychistrist on speed dial.

    3) Sleep alot.

    4) Listen to all your friends above. They are truly wise.

    5) I have to come up with five?

    6) If I couldn't come up with five how the hell am I going to come up with six? Wacky blog. *Rolls eyes in head.*

That baby is one cute dude. Just want to hug him to bits!!!!!! Look what you and Ms. S. created on a cold night in Utah. YOU ROCK! Well actually, if I count back, that cold night was probably a hot night in what, June? Ummmmmmmm hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Love you darling. Good job. And don't worry, you'll do fine. He'll grow up to be a fine boy. Despite you.

    Love to all,
    Me
