Well the final piece to the puzzle arrives Friday. The final cinematic treat to my summer film palate. There were three movies that I have been drooling over this summer, "Batman Begins," "The Wedding Crashers," and , play that funky music white boy, "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." Yes, I did not put "Star Wars" down, sorry brother-in-law, but my hard on for "Star Wars" movies died about 6 years when they released that garbage called "Episode 1."
So I am pretty jacked about the "Virgin." It has gotten favorable reviews and frickin' Steve Carrell is the man. For those of you who don't know who he is, he was the jerk newscaster in "Bruce Almighty" and he played Brick in "Anchorman," the guy on the right in the glasses in above picture.
Anyone who hasn't seen "Batman" or "Wedding Crashers" should do so immediately because they are both, to borrow a line from "Seinfeld," real and spectacular.
So Friday I will go forth and laugh at this virgin's antics with my lovely wife by side and give you my loyal readers all the details. Just the details about the movie of course. If my wife and I decide to go to no-pants town after the show then you will just have to rely on your imagination.
in my opinion, batman begins was the best movie of the summer. for the most part a disappointing summer for movies. either the lsd i took in college is just now causing flashbacks, or half the movies that were out this summer were already made.
ReplyDeleteas for star wars, it's a shame that the 3 prequels turned out the way the did- an utter failure.
better if they had left the first 3 aloneand had no prequels.
man...still haven't seen batman returns....guess I get to wait until it comes out again...
ReplyDelete....wedding crashers was HILARIOUS.
Do you remember when we were younger and there was ALWAYS a movie that defined that particular summer....Jaws, Star Wars and the Blues Brothers come to my mind. No movie just comes right out and grabs the summer anymore like those did. Maybe I'm just turning into a fuddy duddy, but that's how I see it.
ReplyDeleteBatman Begins = absolutely amazing (even four viewings later).
ReplyDeleteThe Aristocrats was near the top of my "must-see" list this summer, but alack, it got the typical limited release that the underdogs seem to get stuck with. Just have to wait for it on Netflix I guess.
But yeah, 40 Year Old Virgin, bring it on.
I love the Netflix. If you want to be added to my friend's list just let me know.
ReplyDeleteI actually just saw Batman Begins a few days ago. Great flick. There's just less and less that interests me at the theatres anymore, though.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I find alot of films out there are just dog crap and as my tastes have matured I don't even bother watching them when they come out on DVD. But even when I was young and dumb I still wouldn't have paid money to see "The Dukes of Hazzard."
