Thought of the day
The Post Weekend Report: The Post-To-Do List Edition
Meet the Parents: Kyle survived his first official introduction to the girlfriend’s family over Easter dinner. He survived the dinner, the family, and the pressure with flying colors.
Movie Night: Mrs. Shife and I finally caught "Project Hail Mary." It was a blast—definitely one of those films that actually lives up to the hype.
The Great Spruce-Up: The yard is clear, the dogs are scrubbed, and the shed is... organized. They all smell fantastic, except for the shed. I tried misting the doorway with a little Drakkar Noir to class it up, but it turns out 1980s cologne is no match for a "dusty hellscape."
Physical Media Renaissance: Added four heavy hitters to the collection: True Grit (the superior Coen version), The Departed, 3:10 to Yuma and Black Hawk Down. No ads, no buffering, just pure cinema.
The Home Stretch: I crushed all my fitness goals this weekend. I’ve only got three days left in this challenge, and I’m staying vigilant until the clock runs out.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

I love both versions of True Grit AND the book. Equally. Can we still be friends?
ReplyDeleteMaybe. Maybe not. The original version is good but I like Jeff Bridges more than John Wayne so it is was an easy choice for me.
DeleteThe book focuses more on Mattie than the movies. I like that, too.
DeleteWe actually liked the Jeff Bridges version better too.
DeleteI've heard other people raving about how good "Project Hail Mary" is too!
ReplyDeleteHighly recommend!!
Delete'Turns out 1980s cologne is no match for a "dusty hellscape."'
ReplyDeleteNoted.
I prefer Jeff Bridges any day.
I am just full of wisdom these days.
DeleteI was wondering if Project Hail Mary was worth putting on clothes and going to the theater. I will trust you on this one. Balder Half will be shocked. I also prefer the Jeff Bridges True Grit. I saw the original on a Jr. High school trip. It beat algebra but I never could stand John Wayne.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide to wear, will be wonderful, Deedles. Go see it!!
DeleteProject Hail Mary is apparently very good!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read the book first, just in case. Of course Ryan Gosling is in it, so points?
Oh Drakkar Noir!!!!
One of my first boyfriends used to wear that! The MEMORIES!!
XOXO
Drakkar Noir was the go-to cologne back in the day.
DeleteI need some of your ambition and energy today!
ReplyDeleteI recommend lots of caffeine.
DeleteMy eldest had a very brief boyfriend a few years ago but hasn’t had another since. I’m secretly happy about that for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about Hayden. She has made it this far without one and I don't see why that should change.
DeleteI been raking leaves, not very exciting.
ReplyDeleteBut at least it is done, right?
DeleteYay, Kyle! That first meeting with parents is always intimidating. Have you had dinner with her yet? I loved Project Hail Mary, both the book and the film.
ReplyDeleteNo, not yet. Kyle is concerned that I might embarrass him. I don't have any idea why he would think that.
