Thought of the day

I think I started drinking soda when I was about 11.
It is a habit I have had on and off for a good chunk of my life.
I even put it in my author's bio:

In 2014, I gave up the Dew and soda in general.
Fast forward to 2026, and I am back on the sauce.
But it is Coke Zero this time.
It started as a reward system during my fitness challenge.
In a world of dietary "no-nos," it was the one thing I could look forward to—provided I drowned myself in 100 ounces of water first. It turns out that all that H2O is the perfect appetizer for a cold can of chemicals and caffeine.
I thought I'd quit when the challenge ended, but I am still enjoying a Coke Zero in the evening.
With all that is going on in the world, it is nice to have a little treat waiting for you.

Talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. There are far worse vices than Coke Zero. My daughter uses (drinks) it to help manage migraines.

  2. I gave up pop when I turned 40. My vice was Diet Coke (old school). I have never in my life had a Mountain Dew! Isn't that a fun fact about me??

    1. The Dew is so gnarly. You made a wise choice, Bijoux.

  3. I have a soda, generally a Coke, about once a week or less. We never grew up on that so I've never really developed a hankerin'--I live in the South so we say "hankerin'"--for it!

    1. I am sure I would sleep better if I laid off the caffeine in the evening but I am a glutton for punishment.

  7. After years of a Pepsi habit that transitioned to a Diet Pepsi habit, I finally kicked it for good about a year ago. I traded soda for carbonized water which comes in a variety of flavors. I found the carbonization scratched the same itch that pop did. Since I have always seemed to be immune to caffeine, it works well for me. I'm now on about a three can a day habit of LaCroix but since it has zero anything in it because it is water, I'll probably not try to kick it anytime soon.
