 Thought of the day

I'm a day late this week.
Apologies if I interrupted your scheduled programming.
I had a really late night, as I attended a Coldplay concert and things got crazy.
I kid.
The real story?
I was deep in the trenches of back-to-school shopping with Hayden—my awesome soon-to-be eighth grader. Three hours, twelve changing rooms, and more fashion debates than Project Runway, and I barely survived to tell the tale.
Spoiler alert: I did survive. And we succeeded, but at great personal cost... mostly to my feet and checking account.
Did someone mention Coldplay?
There were so many funny memes that hit the internet after the incident, but this was one of my favorites:

Here are more details about the Coldplay story, in case you're unfamiliar with it.

It was also a rough week for my childhood memories as Malcom Jamal-Warner (Theo Huxtable), Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan passed away.
Growing up, we watched "The Cosby Show" as a family every Thursday night, and my brother and I were big wrestling fans, so the Hulkster was our hero. Unfortunately, we found out later in life that he wasn't quite the same person he portrayed in the squared circle.
Ozzy entered my life a little bit later when I discovered metal as a teenager.

Lucy Appreciation Month

We didn't hit a pint-sized piƱata this week, as there were no large groups of children to admire Lucy Lou Magoo, so we only had 12 LEOs (Lucy Encounters with Others).
Now, onto fashion week, where Lucy models scrunchies, a board game, and sunglasses.

Lucy sporting a side pony while also transforming into her alter ego:
Lady Wigglebottom of House Couchington, first of her name, queen of the patio realm.

Another side pony, but Lucy is showing off her pretentious side:
I could fetch, but then who would bring the drama?

We thought Lucy would be an excellent spokesperson for the board game, Risk:
I demand belly rubs… or I invade the Balkans.

Lucy is giving off the "I don’t chase balls. I chase vibes" as a sunglasses model.
Or she might be running out of patience with me and thinking, "These are prescription… for seeing through your horse shit."

Meme dump

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. You hit it out of the ballpark with those memes! Also, I love a side pony. Lucy is rocking the runway! Theo was my fave on The Cosby Show. Super sad! I was in college when Ozzy bit off that bat's head and it is something that I could never get over, so I was not a fan.

  2. OMG the whole week has been CRAZY. And I’m not counting the fuckery in the government.
We also used to watch The Huxtables every week. I adored Denise Huxtable. I basically wanted ALL OF HER WARDROBE. That’s why understand your outing with Hayden and the whole clothes-selecting-ritual.

Ozzy was another one that was a fav. I had a boyfriend who was VERY into heavy metal and I listened to more than one Ozzy album while dating him. The Hulk? Never a fan. Especially after he ruined Gawker for publishing his infidelity, I think?

Have a great weekend, Mr. Shive. And Lucy looks very 80’s on point with a side ponytail!!!

    XOXO

  10. Lucy's side pony!!! LOL! Also, I think you've accurately translated her thoughts . . .
And yes, a lot of folks dying and some folks dying of embarrassment. Well, they brought it on themselves, the second group, I mean. Can't rustle up even a drop of sympathy for them!

  11. Back to school shopping already! My oldest grandson will start Kindergarten in late August so I guess my daughter better get going. :) Love the Lucy sunglasses and side pony. She is a very sweet and cooperative dog. The idea of trying to do either of those with my cat chills me to my bones!
