Thought of the day

Softball season is well underway for my team and Hayden's as well.
And with that comes the team chat.
A place where the coaches, players and parents can give updates, share information, and drive me crazy.
I have the conversations muted most of the time because people don't read the messages.
Here's an example:

Coach: Just a reminder that we have a game this Saturday at 1 pm at the middle school park. Please wear your blue uniforms.

Parent: Thanks, Coach. What time is the game?
Another parent: Where's the game?
Another parent: What uniforms should we wear?
Another parent: Wait, we have a game this Saturday! Johnny can't make it.
Coach: Please see my previous message regarding information about Saturday's game.
Another parent: There's a 1 percent chance of rain on Saturday. Do you think the game will get cancelled?

And this goes on for about 15 minutes.

But my favorite is when one of the coaches asks everyone who CAN'T make the game, and then this happens:

Rant over.
I hope you are having a wonderful day, and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. Be careful you don't include anyone in your team chat who doesn't belong. You don't want to leak out any sensitive information.

  2. LOL
Oh, group chats. Like the ones Hegseth has. But you are totally right. I would NOT want to be a coach.
    And Kermit? It me. Literally.
I cackled at the 'sexually active' dude. Still laughing.

    XOXO

  3. Every time my boss sends out a text to schedule a meeting he always asks to let him know if you cannot make him and all the responses are from people who say that CAN make it.
I want those people sent to El Salvador.

  4. It's amazing how little attention people actually give to things.

  5. Looking both ways is a must in today’s world. People can’t read, can they?

    1. I am learning that they can read but don't comprehend. Or they just don't care.

  6. All cats are weird--the others are just waiting their turn! As a teacher of 37 years (not all of them with email) I can verify that may people do NOT read their texts/emails.

    1. And that is why I don't have cats because I want to be the only weird one in my house.

  7. That's funny and probably pretty common in any chat, but I feel for ya having to read it all!

  8. People don't read. It's a huge disappointment to the me who painstakingly sends out stuff, but a huge comfort to the me who mis-reads, misunderstands, or fails to see the message altogether ;) May your experiences improve . . . but don't hold your breath!

    1. I am not counting on it to get better.

  9. Reminds me of 'my' kids. "Whose jacket is that?" And I get a chorus of 'not mine!!'

  10. What gets me irritated the most is their need to "Reply All" on those messages. For the love of god, just tell the coach. I don't want to know the reason Johnny can't make it to the next event.

    1. 100%. The reply all should be disabled on group chats. If they really feel the need then they have to add everyone to their reply.
