Thought of the day
I read a quote this morning that really resonated with me:
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice.
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice.
"What can I do with that?" I said to myself.
"Hey, self, you should write about it," I said again to myself.
"Hey, self, you should write about it," I said again to myself.
Myself has a lot to say today.
I put that quote into my blog search engine, and it turns out that I thought about writing about it many years ago, but it just sat there in draft mode.
I guess Mr. Shife's Motivational Monday didn't seem like a lot of fun to my past self.
I guess Mr. Shife's Motivational Monday didn't seem like a lot of fun to my past self.
But today is a new day, and it seems like a good time to share.
So, enjoy. Or not. But thanks for stopping by, and I will talk to you tomorrow.
1) Don't let someone become a priority in your life when you are just an option in theirs. Relationships work best when they are balanced.
2) Never explain yourself to anyone. The person who likes you doesn't need it; the person who dislikes you won't believe it.
3) When you keep saying you are busy, you are never free. When you keep saying you have no time, you will never have time. When you keep saying that you will do it tomorrow, your tomorrow will never come.
4) When we wake up in the morning, we have two simple choices: go back to sleep and dream, or wake up and chase those dreams. The choice is yours.
5) We make those who care about us cry. We cry for those who never care about us. And we care for those who will never cry for us. This is the truth of life; it's strange but true. Once you realize this, it's never too late to change.
6) Don't make promises when you are joyful. Don't reply when you are sad. Don't make decisions when you are angry. Think twice. Act wise.
7) Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life.
8) At first, I was dying to finish high school and start college. Then I was dying to finish college and start working. Then I was dying to marry and have children. Then I was dying for my children to grow old enough so I could go back to work. But then I was dying to retire. Now I'm just dying. And suddenly I realized I forgot to live.
Great quotations, especially about balance in relationships. That's a hard but necessary lesson to learn.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteEight great thoughts! I could learn a thing or two!
ReplyDeleteI only wish I could work from the fridge ...
Me too.
DeleteAs a procrastinator, number three is my biggest challenge.
ReplyDeleteSuch good memes! I especially like the cat one. I'm so glad memes exist and I can access an unlimited number of them because the internet exists :D
Me too. My future self gets mad at me a lot.
DeleteI wasn't expecting to get all these great words of wisdom here today! Well done, Mr. Shife! I needed them. (and thanks, too, for the usual silly memes... I needed them, as well)
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Kelly.
DeleteGreat words of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteTY, KG!
DeleteI love these quotes, especially 8. I don't know about the water though--could it be the same water or part of the same water, recirculating? Perhaps we are part of that flow and need to get in and swim along with it. After all we are 60% water to start with!
ReplyDeleteGood points, Margaret.
