Thought of the day

We almost made it through February.
Two more sleeps, and it will be a new month.
What are you looking forward to in March?
Warmer weather and more daylight are on my list.

Never in my wildest imaginations did I think Papa Roach would become a staple of my music rotation.
But it's 2025, and here we are.
I have liked 8 of their songs.
The latest like has been "Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)."

Do you think it is odd to call your child your soulmate?
Mrs. Shife and I recently watched the movie Goodrich, in which the main character tells his adult daughter that she is his soulmate.
It didn't sit well with us as the term soulmate always felt more associated with a romantic partner.

And let's close it out with a terrible dad joke:

I opened a nightclub for men with erectile dysfunction.
It was a total flop… nobody came

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are doing fantastic, and I will talk to you soon.

Meme dump

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. Geez... some of those memes are priceless! I don't know about "soulmate", but I think an adult child can qualify as a "best friend".

    1. That makes more sense than a soulmate.

  2. The bathrooms, OMG. Not a chance. That eye contact one is very appropriate. I usually start too early, then don't know whether to continue or look awkwardly around. Ugh. Soulmate has picked up a romantic connotation although I'm not sure that the word itself means that. Erectile dysfunction joke is priceless; it's hard not to give it a standing O. (see, I can pun too!)

    1. Yes, you can. Nicely done, Margaret.

  3. I'm looking forward to nicer weather and being able to get out more and walk. To me, soulmate means someone you have a soul connection with. I believe in re-incarnation so maybe that's where I get the idea that 'soulmates' have been together before. Faith is that for me, besides being my bestie.

  4. One of the things I dislike most about taking old-people-senior-citizen exercise classes is that the "workout" playlists are always the songs of our youth (1950s, 60s, 70s) when we were young and healthy and had most of our life ahead of us, instead of behind us. Those playlists are like a knife in the heart, as far as I'm concerned.

    1. I never thought of it that way, Debra, but that is a good point.

  5. The soulmate thing is creepy.
    The bathrooms are icky.
Just one more day and I will have made it through February Death Month for another year.
Other than that ... all good!

  6. A great collection of memes. February can't get out of here fast enough.

  7. That soulmate business is creepy. Kinda like Elon's dad making a baby with his daughter.

  8. I came here to comment, saw Joanne's comment and thought you've got to be shitting me, and off I went down a google rabbit hole. Now I'm back. The 'soulmate' in terms of a child is very creepy. A dad trying to keep his grown-up daughter on a very short leash by making their relationship the central relationship in her life.

  9. We too found that comment creepy. My husband said maybe we just are taking this wrong. Good to know we weren't the only ones. As always, great memes.

  10. Last Resort guitar riff!
    I borrowed the joke.

  11. The song meme is spot on. Nothing like grocery shopping and hearing a Duran Duran song. I always look around wondering if anyone else feels like that is just wrong.

  12. A dad joke isn't funny unless it's terrible. It's like a rule or something. That last meme explains why my A1C level is so high. Thanks for showing me the error of my eating ways.

  13. For me, March 1 is psychological spring. I know that I've made it and though it could still snow, it won't stay for long anymore. Tomorrow, it will be spring in my mind!

  15. I think of soulmate in the romantic fashion so it feels wrong to use it for one's children. I don't even really like it in the romantic way, though, and never have. To me it implies there is only one love for a person, and that's not logical. Love the memes, especially the long hallway. So true :)

  16. Soulmate has definite romantic overtones. I work part-time in retail and I can tell you, the Turgid Verse is right time and time again.

  17. I agree with you on Soulmate. That just sounds sick to refer to a child in such a manner. Enjoy March.

  18. OHH I've heard of that movie.
It's marketed as a 'comedy'. Probably a dark comedy, for what you say. And I think Mila Kunis plays the adult daughter? The whole 'soulmate' thing does not ring well, right????
And the kitty with the rainbow!! LOL

    XOXO
