Thought of the day
We are really in it now.
I sent this GIF to Mrs. Shife once I saw the final sports schedules for Kyle and Hayden.
We don't have a sports-free weekend until Arbor Day 2030.
OK. It's not that bad but it feels like it on some days.
OK. It's not that bad but it feels like it on some days.
I have been telling people that I am trying to get my ducks in a row but they all have bird flu.
The joke has been more hit than miss but I feel like there's a better way to wrap up that thought.
The joke has been more hit than miss but I feel like there's a better way to wrap up that thought.
What do you think?
How would you finish it: I am trying to get my ducks in a row but they all have fill in the blank?
It's awesome watching them play their sports and I'm glad we can do it but, like I mentioned earlier, it can feel like a lot every now and then.
I can bellyache all I want but it's on like Donkey Kong as Kyle has his first cross-country meet Saturday.
Wish us luck.
Hope all is well in your corner of the world.
Thanks for stopping and I will talk to you soon.
Meme dump
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
... but they are all wandering like Walmart shoppers on a Saturday night.
ReplyDeleteNot sure anyone in my family would get that last meme... but I do!
I must be a long lost relative then....
DeleteI must be a long lost relative because I don't.
DeleteIt's reference to the movie "Die Hard" and the lead character's catch phrase.
DeleteI knew you would come through, Ed.
DeleteI duck hunted in my earlier life, so I would say: I am trying to get my ducks in a row, but they keep flying south for winter.
ReplyDeleteOne of your best group of memes yet.
Thanks, Kelly.
DeleteMy daughter never did any sports so I didn't have to deal with that.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get my ducks in a row but they all have decided to protest and refuse to behave.
Sounds like my ducks.
DeleteI'm always amazed at the dedication and sacrifice modern parents make to facilitate their kids' sports. That's why I'm a childless cat lady myself.
ReplyDeleteHa. You go you wonderul childless cat lady.
DeleteI went through your phase twenty years ago and lived to tell. You will also :-)
ReplyDeleteThis afternoon I had to wash sets of dishes three times, so can relate to that meme.
Good to know, KG.
DeleteOMG a coworker was asking about some volunteers for some stuff and he basically said what you just said about his weekends. He's got an eight grader and a tenth grader.
ReplyDeleteI'm cackling about that parent ending the phrase with 'Mother*ucker' LMAOOO
And I don't have ducks in a row. I have geese.
XOXO
Take care of those geese, Sixpence.
DeleteThat last meme; yes!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you and the Missus could clone yourselves and attend all the events???
That would be so awesome.
DeleteThey are like squirrels at a rave? I didn't get the last one. Ah, well.
ReplyDeleteIt's from the movie "Die Hard", Margaret. The main character has a memorable line involving 'Yippee Ki Yay.'
DeleteThese years go by fast, but I do remember never having a date night unless it was our anniversary, which was a bummer. Enjoy the kids while you can.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bijoux.
DeleteNot mine, but I think it is hilarious: I'm trying to get my ducks in a row but at this point, I don't know where most of them are and I'm pretty sure one of them is a pigeon.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good one. Thanks, Debby.
DeleteI died hard laughing at that last one! My ducks shifted into cats. Try keeping those furry little suckers in a row!
ReplyDeleteLook at you, Deedles. Sneaking in the title of the movie with your comment. Nice job.
DeleteI died hard laughing at the last one. My ducks shifted into cats and you know you can't keep those furry little suckers in a row.
ReplyDeleteI tried commenting before so I don't know if this is a duplicate. Balder snuck up on me as I was trying to push the right keys.
Duplicated but appreciated. Double the Deedles is a good thing.
DeleteOh, yeah, I am familiar with that word in the last meme…. :-).
ReplyDeleteMy daughter in law posted on FB how crazy it is to be out watching the kids play soccer in 100 degree heat….ugh. And it’s all just beginning!
Yep, it is only the beginning.
DeleteWhen I was in school, cross-country meets were always done during the school day, rather than on the weekend since you see the team start the race, but then you don't see them again until after they've run 5 miles. Dishes in the sink? That's what dishwashers are for.
ReplyDeleteHis meets are all over the place time and day wise so we are just assuming our weekends are booked from now on.
DeleteI like your version of the ducks in a row, TBH. But I've always been a meme appreciator, not a meme generator. Sounds like a brutal schedule. Aren't you glad you didn't have three kids . . . or more? Do you think school sports are more competitive these days and that has led to more time on each sport? Maybe give yourselves permission to skip some?
ReplyDeleteThanks, jenny_o. Definitely more competitive and more pressure that if you don't play on this team or in that tournament you are going to miss out.
DeleteYou two are great parents and I'm sure the kids appreciate it. I was never in sports or activities except for the occasional choral concert and no one came for me. It would have meant a lot if they had. Great memes this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you, kden.
DeleteHowdy Shife.... hope life is treating you and Shifley family well!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing great, Bob. Thanks for stopping by and glad to hear from you.
DeleteYes, sports and kids can be tough. Good luck. Like the dishwashing meme (that's so true at our house and we have a dishwasher!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeff.
DeleteI wish you all much luck!
ReplyDelete...but they are all swimming in circles?
Thanks, Bea. I forgot I asked that question so it took a moment for your second sentence to register.
