Thoughts of the day

I normally don't give the Oscars, the Grammys or other award shows too much of my time but an Emmy nomination this year got my attention.
Do you watch The Bear?
Well, it received 23 nominations, which seems alright because it is a good show.
However, it was nominated in the comedy category and ended up breaking 30 Rock’s record for most comedy nominations.
If you have watched The Bear and, then had to describe it to someone else, comedy would not be one of the words you would use.
Don't get me wrong, The Bear has comedic elements, but it is a drama.
If I want to watch something to take the edge off and forget about stuff, then 30 Rock is a good choice because it is a comedy.
If I want to get spun up and watch my anxiety spike, then The Bear is the show for me.
Rant over.
Thanks for listening.

Kyle did not get hired at DQ.
The manager didn't even bother showing up to the interview so that sucked.
I felt bad for him because he didn't even get the opportunity to get some interviewing experience.
He only has about 3 weeks of summer left, so we are going to focus on driver's ed as he is now doing the driving part of the training and hope he has better luck next summer.

Lucy Lou Magoo turned 2 last week.
The birthday basset celebrated the big day by talking to the carpet and wondering why it's been 100 degrees or hotter for the past two weeks.

When she wasn't talking to the wise and magnificent carpet, she pulled herself together to pose for her birthday photo and then went back to deciding which toy she loved the most. As you can see in the background, she has a few options.

Meme dump

Have a good rest of your week and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. Happy birthday, Lucy! You are a winner in my book!
Sorry about the job thing. I’m sure they actually really need the help, but even management doesn’t care anymore. Don’t be surprised if the place closes down soon.

  2. As someone who's done HR, the mgr at DQ who didn't show is unprofessional as hell. I don't know which is funnier, the Air Friar, or Jesus was here, they both make sense to me.

    1. The Air Friar one is my favorite this week.

  3. Sorry about the interview and not getting the job. But really, if the manager is that crappy, I'm guessing it might not have been a place Kyle would have enjoyed working.

I met a black lab today. He was a tall boy and full of energy. He slobbered all over the toy he kept bringing to me.

Tell Lucy I said Woof, woof, grr, woof woof woof, bork, grr and woof. She'll know what it means.

  4. I can't believe the manager didn't show for the interview! I guess that was a lesson in itself for Kyle that there are plenty of jerks out there. I hope he shrugged it off.

Good meme set. Jesus has been busy.

    Happy birthday, Lucy!

  5. I cannot believe the manager did not show up. Ugh. RUDE.
And Calum surely had a day after that message, no???

    XOXO

  8. Happy Birthday to Lucy Lou Magoo!
And that DQ manager is an ass for not even showing up; I'd say that says the place would not be the best place to work. Better luck next time Kyle!

  9. Tough break for Kyle. That manager needs a kick in the ass for not even showing up.

  10. So what toy is Lucy's favorite? I hope she has one so you don't have to buy her more toys.

    1. Whichever toy Ms. Frizzle has is her favorite.

  11. IMO, Kyle dodged a bullet not having to work with that manager. Just a thought.
I'm with Lucy. WTH with these temperatures?? Happy B'day, Lucy!
And I snorted at "air friars". In a good way :)

  12. I've had more than one person tell me I should watch The Bear and I think I started episode one at some point but gave up on it and didn't return. I may have to push through and try it again.

  13. I don't have the right streaming service to watch The Bear but many have recommended it to me. Perhaps the drama in it is seen as dark humor? That infuriates me for Kyle! As a prior commenter wrote, he is fortunate to not have to work with such a person. Happy Birthday to Lucy!

    1. You need Hulu to watch it, Margaret.

  14. Lucy is adorable, happy birthday.
I don't watch anything to do with the Emmy's or Oscars.

  15. Paying the bills, are you winning..........priceless. That's terrible the person didn't even show up for the interview. Pretty much sums up that it probably would have been a bad place to work. Shame on adults/professionals not leading by example. I never watch the awards shows and haven't heard of the show you mention The Bear. One reason I don't tend to watch the award shows is because we never go to a movie, so never know what they're talking about; and rarely watch TV. We do find things on Netflix and Amazon Prime to watch, but it's rare for us to watch more than an hour of anything in one night...only exception to that for hubby is sports.

  16. I would call The Bear a drama too. I'm not really into this season though; too many flashbacks confuse me, lol. That sucks about Kyle's chance at a job. It's so different than it used to be to look for a job.

    1. I know it is a good show but I haven't watched the new season yet.

  17. That really taught Kyle a good lesson about the working world. If you make an appointment, keep the appointment. Unless you are in charge. That would irritate me. They at least owe him a blizzard for not calling ahead and canceling the interview.

Happy birthday to Lucy. I too find myself deep in meditation with the wise carpet. It doesn't help.

  18. I remember when I saw the movie Fargo on one of the funniest movies around--mainly because of the accents, but I was like, wait, they stuffed people into tree grinders! Great meme's. Sorry of your daughter's experience at DQ, but maybe that's a temptation that she didn't need. I'm sure something else will come along

  19. What a bummer that the DQ manager flaked. Interview practice is never a bad thing.
Having been both a waitress and bartender in very busy joints, I would say, unequivocally, that The Bear ain't no comedy. (I mean, come on. They know this, we know this.)
Some of the restaurant scenes stressed me out to the point where I just had to FF through that shizz.
Happy B-Day to your poochie, Lucy!
