I mentioned yesterday that we spent some time away from home.
Things didn't get off to a promising start as I had to make a visit to Urgent Care and I learned that I had a scratch on my cornea.
It's as wonderful as it sounds.
But after that, it was pretty awesome.
We spent the week in Northern Idaho visiting family and friends.
Highlights included eating lots and lots of ice cream, a family reunion, a trip to an amusement park, a trip to the beach, fireworks, and numerous successful attempts at traveling painlessly through time into the future. Here are some photos of the highlights:
The apprentice, Kyle, learning from the master, Grandpa, about firework setup and execution.
One of the successful launches from Kyle and Grandpa.
Me and my lady friend. She is the best.
This ride was called the Stunt Pilot and it made me wonder if this was the inspiration for the Meatloaf song "I Will Do Anything For Love But I Won't Do That."
Holy cannoli, I didn't feel right for several hours after riding this one.

Once they warmed up to them, they were big fans of the roller coasters.
Kyle and Hayden were roller coaster warriors. They can't wait to go to another amusement park.
Kyle and Hayden at Hayden Lake. And, yes, this place was the inspiration for Hayden's name.
Thanks for saying hello and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
Once upon a time I could ride any roller coaster. These days, even the tame ones my youngest will ride are too much for me and will make me feel green. I’ve heard something in your ears is less flexible with age and mine must be downright rigid.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense, Ed. I used to be a lot more adventurous when it came to stuff like this but not anymore.
DeleteSweet and very normal I love this post
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThat’s so cool about his name! My son was a coaster fanatic for many years and had an annual pass to Cedar Point. I always pass on rides. Lol!
ReplyDeleteI am getting there, Bijoux.
DeleteI would'a told Hayden the lake was named after him.
ReplyDeleteI lovelovelove roller coasters.
You and the Missus make for a cute, happy couple.
Thanks, Bob. Hayden already tells people that anyway.
DeleteA lot of good looking people in this post. Kyle looks more and more like you. Hayden will look like her mama one day. And never ride another coaster after age thirty and probably a lot sooner.
ReplyDeleteAlways with a keen eye and good advice, Joanne.
DeleteIt sounds like a wonderful time (except for the cornea scratch part).
ReplyDeleteIt was, Kathy.
DeleteI hate roller coasters. A lot. Your kids can have my share. Other than the scratched cornea, it sounds like the perfect vacation.
ReplyDeleteI like roller coasters a lot more when they slow down and come back to the beginning. My goodness I am not as brave as I used to be.
DeleteLooks like a fun time! Well, except for the scratched cornea and amusement ride-induced nausea.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good time, Debra.
DeleteRoller coasters aren't a big thing here in Australia and I would never ever ride one anyway. The lake looks lovely though.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I wonder why that is?
DeleteExcept for the cornea thing, it sounds like you had a freakin' awesome vacation!
ReplyDeleteConfirmed.
DeleteWe're not too far from Hayden and Silverwood. I could use a dunk in a lake about now.
ReplyDeleteHighly recommended.
DeleteI wondered about the name thing. :) Been to Silverwood but I wouldn't go again, being scared of heights and motion sick. Not the best combo. I've scratched my cornea and it IS miserable. Luckily, it mends fairly quickly. The picture with your wife should be framed; it's that beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful just like Hayden. Thanks for the photo comment, Margaret. If you look closely, you can see my fanny pack strap. I am such a dad now.
DeleteLooks like great fun! I think I need a getaway like this STAT.
ReplyDeleteYes, you probably do with all that is going on in your world.
DeleteI don't do roller coasters....period
