  • Are you familiar with the term "douche canoe"?
I recently heard it again and forgot how much I like the way it sounds.

  • Do you have a favorite comedian? I don't know if I do anymore.
There are quite a few I like a lot but I don't have one where I would drive nearly 5 hours to watch them perform. The reason I am specific with the time traveled is because Salt Lake City gets a lot of bigger comedians to come their way and I have gone there before to see a favorite.

  • In case you were wondering, I had a wonderful Father's Day. I went to the movies with Kyle and saw "The Flash" and then I watched "Are you there God? It's Me, Margaret" with Hayden and Mrs. Shife. I grilled some pizzas on the smoker for dinner, we had Jello pie for dessert and then we went down to the river with the dogs for a walk. Not too shabby of a way to spend my day.

  • Two observations from the first photo. Kyle is just about taller than me and check out Hayden's footwear. After about two years of asking, she finally got some Crocs. She's very happy about them.

  • And, I don't know who needs to hear this, but some days it feels like there isn't enough kindness or grace out there so I just want you to know to hang in there because there are people that do care.

Well, that is enough from me today. Hope all is well and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. OMG Happy Father's day one day late.
And if you are talking about stand up comedy, I'd recommend Wanda Sykes and Hannah Gadsby. Also, check my post on Matteo Lane's. He's hysterical. I wanna go see The Flash. And don't let Maddie see those Crocs! Hayden is rocking them, but Maddie has VERY specific opinions about them! LOL

    XOXO

    1. TY SP. Sounds like Maddie and Mrs. Shife have similar opinions about Crocs. I think I remember you mentioning Matteo Lane so I will make myself a note.

  3. My first thought was also Kyle is taller than Dad! Sounds like a perfec t Father's Day.

I have b=never heard the term douche canoe and yet now I know many people on whom I can use it.

I love irreverent comics; the ones who tell the jokes you probably shouldn't ....

  4. Sounds like you had a great Father's Day. That is a nice picture of you and your kids! I like crocs on kids but not so much on adults, unless you're in the medical field and wearing them with scrubs! That being said I actually own a pair and wear them when I'm painting or doing yard work! I do recall the term douche canoe but I don't think I have ever personally used it! I suppose I would have driven several hours to see Robin Williams if he was still alive. He could make me laugh like no other comedian!

  5. A wonderful Father's Day, including the fatherly grace of sitting through two movies.

  6. "Douche Canoe" is new to me but I feel it should be a popular expression in Canada. Sounds like you had a great Father's Day with your son who will soon call you "Shorty" and your daughter in her new, kickass Crocs! Did you enjoy "The Flash"? It's been getting mixed reviews, but I still want to see it once it's on a streaming service.

    1. I liked "The Flash" well enough and it had some nice cameos so I would recommend it, Debra.

  7. The quote at the end made me a little weepy but high emotions are how I roll. LOVE the photo and the Father's Day activities. Having my name always made me hesitant to embrace the book although I've heard it and the movie are excellent. I feel like so many comedians are trying too hard to make me laugh and I RESIST.

  9. I second Matteo Lane mentioned by Sixpence above. Others I like are Nate Bargatze, Greg Warren, Leanne Morgan, and Osmo. If you Google "Dry Bar" you can sample comedians to see if you like any of them; often you can see their full show. The problem with that is that you're seeing a lot of their repertoire and if you went to a live show there'd likely be material you already know. Five hours is a long way to drive for that :D

Sounds like your Father's Day was perfect. Glad you had a good one. I love the looks on everyone's faces in both photos - even Ms Frizzle in the second one - lol . And I did need that last meme. So thank you.

    1. Well I welcome your second, jenny_o, and I appreciate it. I am familiar with the Dry Bar channel and have watched it a few times. FD was great and I am glad the meme was helpful.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
Sounds like it was an ideal Father’s Day. I had to do a double take on the first pic. Looks like one of the dogs slipper their leash 😎. Someone I’ve just started following on Twitter and YouTube is Matt Rife. You should look him up.

  13. Great Father's Day photo! Two of our kids were here and we had smoked meats that my husband made for Memorial Day and then froze.
