Is that a look of satisfaction or regret?
Ms. Lucy celebrated turning 11 months old by getting into the treat drawer and devouring anything and everything that resembled a treat.
We usually keep a velcro strap on the handles so she can't get in there and help her stomach set a new personal record for food intake.
But we forgot and Lucy took advantage of our negligence.
By our unscientific methods, we figure she gained 17.4 pounds.

Today I learned that Hayden is a fan of Talor Swift.
A Swiftie.
She told me if I wanted to take her to one of her concerts for her birthday that she would be OK with that.
I don't know how familiar you are with Taylor Swift but her concerts have been sold out since day one and prices are in the thousands for one seat.
Maybe I can talk into being a Swiffie.

As a St. Louis Cardinals fan my whole life, I have been spoiled.
They generally don't suck and have won the second-most World Series titles.
But things are a lot different this year.
They are awful and I don't think it is going to get any better.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope things are going well for you this week.
I'll talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. So long as Ms Lucy doesn't barf up all those treats, you're doing okay.

    1. She held them down like a stubborn basset.

  2. Taylor Swift is a genre-spanning young entrepreneur, well worth looking at. It would be worth your while to privately bring yourself up to date on her career, then sit on the couch with Hayden through a concert.

  3. Lucy looks like me after I've had just one more donut. Tums for the tummy time. Okay, that's just me. Not a Taylor Swift fan myself. I can't stand her singing. I'm saving hundreds of dollars because of it.

  4. I am shocked by those ticket prices. I have to admit that I haven't heard a single song by Taylor Swift and would possibly not even recognize her if she walked by me on the street. Hope Lucy's tummy doesn't get upset. I can understand her love of treats--me too!

    1. Crazy, right? She's doing better but her swimsuit is a little tighter.

  5. Bassett hounds are stomachs with short legs and long ears. I can't call myself a 'swifty', but I will admit that she's very talented and she's a great role model for young women. A DJ got a little handsy and boy did he live to regret it. Google it. She owns herself. I love how she explores different musical styles with different artists. 1. Thanks for the link, Debby. She's a walking garbage disposal.

  6. That's definitely a look of regret, you might want to take a larger poop-scoop next time you take her out. I'm not a fan of Taylor Swift, concert tickets at outrageous prices are bad enough, but her private life doesn't suggest good role modelling either. She changes partners like I change socks and then uses that to write songs about.

  7. Lucy looks guilty.
    Not a Swifty or Swiffferfan.
And lastly, I don't follow "the volleyball" so I know of these Cardinals of which you speak.,

  8. Not a Swiftie here. She is this decade's variation of Madonna, and like her, she too will not survive the passage of time.

  9. Taylor Swift (Swiffer, ha!) was just here for a 2 night concert last weekend. It was all over the news and downtown Detroit was mass chaos! I can't imagine paying those prices for anyone! I turned down an offer to go to a Pink concert because the tickets were $140. I don't get it but then I'm almost old enough to remember The Beatles and mass hysteria wherever they played!

  10. Just don't let Lucy get into the chocolate. My "grand-basset" recently spent a night in an emergency vet center, hooked up to an IV. He ate a chocolate cream pie and it nearly killed him.

  12. Being a Swiffie would be infinitely more affordable than being a Swiftie, even if you paid for the name brand refills instead of the no name ones :) I think she's quite a gifted writer, to be honest, although that's based on her earlier work. But $1000 a ticket is ridiculous and smacks of taking advantage of the fans.

Poor Ms. Lucy. She doesn't really look all that comfortable. Did she keep everything down? lol

  13. My friends took their daughters to a Swift concert in detroit and they live in Cleveland Ohio.
Hotel, travel, tickets, food, etc was a very very expensive 48 hrs. My parents were horrific in comparison. I wanted to see my first concert and I had to pick strawberries to make the money. I laugh at that today. No kid works for their entertainment or "things" today like my darn immigrant parents made me. LoL
