- So you are saying that Kyle and I look alike?
I don't see it.
Ha. I kid.
There's no doubt that he's my kiddo.
I really liked what Debby said in the comments yesterday:
"I have to raise them right because I'll never be able to deny them." - Believe it or not, I was 18 in that photo.
I hardly believed it when I looked at the back of the photo to check the date, but, based on my memories of that haircut, I indeed was 18.
My hair had an orange tint and stripes etched into the side because I thought dumping a bottle of hydrogen peroxide was a good idea and Brian Bosworth was a cool dude. - Believe it or not, I am no longer 18.
As a matter of fact, I have reached that age where you need to get certain vaccines.
I got my second shingles vaccine shot last week and every afternoon for about 4 days I would hit a wall requiring me to take a big old nap.
I broke the napping streak yesterday but it was bonkers how exhausted I was after the shot.
Well, that is all for today. I hope you are doing great and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.
And I thought you were 12. Oh, dear! I'm embarrassed. Brian Bosworth was NOT a cool dude but I can understand why people thought so. That new shingles shot was a doozy. Way worse that any Covid vaccination.
ReplyDeleteYou said you were bad at guessing ages and you weren't wrong. The shingles shot really knocked me out. The Boz was not cool but I didn't realize that until after the haircut.
DeleteI had the shingles shots a while back. I don't remember much about it.
ReplyDeleteThat is how it starts with those vaccinations, Mike. =)
DeleteThe really bad thing about looking at old pictures of when you were young is that you still feel young but no longer look like yourself, in fact, you find it difficult to believe you were ever really that young.
ReplyDeleteAnd the hair. The amazing hair that I used to have.
DeleteI never had the shingles shot, but I did have the shingles; I think I'd have preferred the shot.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen too many great reviews about getting shingles.
DeleteYou won't be sorry you had the shingles shot. Also a pneumonia shot would be good, plus the current covid and flu shots. And last but not least, Mrs. Shife should get all the vaccinations herself. It will be interesting to know of they affect her in the same way.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joanne. These are the only shots I am taking these days.
DeleteI'm a compliant patient, and when they tell me to get any type of vaccine I do.
ReplyDeleteI am too for the most part, KG.
DeleteKyle is truly your spitting image! I just got my Shingles vaccine too a few months ago. I didn't notice any increased need for napping but I never say no to a nap anyway.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly is, Debra. I don't really pay much attention to it but I am reminded when I see photos like these and I am like "Holy cannoli, he looks like me!"
DeleteI would have never guessed 18. My dad would be pleased to see his words immortalized on your blog. He had another famous saying when things got heated (which happened a lot in my family) "Keep giving me crap! By god, I'll kill you and make another one that looks just like you."
ReplyDeleteAh, my pappy had a way with words.
Glad to share his wonderful words of wisdom, Debby.
DeleteI had my shingles and pneumonia shots on the same day about six weeks ago, one in each arm. Apart from the shingles one hurting like hell as it went in, I had no other side effects, well, a little stiffness in the upper arm on the shingles side. Here in Australia it is a single shot not a two part. And I think it is one and done for life, but I'll have to check on that.
ReplyDeleteYou were really 18 there? Wow.
One and done would have been nice, River. And, yes, I really was that old.
DeleteCan't believe I missed the Bosworth finger cut in the hair. I'm slipping in my old age.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy with your gardening, Ed, so I will cut you some slack.
DeleteThe resemblance is very strong, especially considering the age difference between your and Kyle's photos. I wonder what he will look like at 18? I've heard a lot of negative about the shingles vaccination and I'm a little worried to get it as I can't afford to put myself out of commission on purpose because of the care my mother needs (I'm her only caregiver) but I also worry about getting shingles. My SIL had them almost two years ago and is still dealing with the effects. Not good. I'm glad you have it over with. Maybe your reaction is because you have a great immune system??
ReplyDeleteI heard horrible things about shingles too so that is why I went ahead and got the shots. I am guessing he is going to be a very handsome young man when he turns 18 but I am little biased, jenny-o.
DeleteWhat great pics! I've only had one of them but my body did not like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, kden.
