How it started
How it's going
We were doing some spring cleaning this past weekend and ran across an old photo of yours truly with basset hound #2, Higgins.
He was my first basset hound puppy and probably one of the best Christmas presents ever.
If you are scoring at home or even if you are alone, Lucy is basset hound #6 but only the second puppy I have ever had.
Basset hounds 1, 3, 4 and 5 were rescues.
Any guesses on how old I was in the first photo?
I hope you had a lovely weekend, thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you tomorrow.
I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

I would guess 14 or 15 - 15 if I had to pick only one of those. At first I thought that was a photo of Kyle but it didn't look quite right. You truly have a penchant for basset hounds. I'm so happy to hear that many of the ones you've loved have been rescues.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do, jenny_o. It has always been love at first sight with that breed.
DeleteSo you've always been a Basset kind of guy! The three Bassets I've known (2 granddogs and 1 great-granddog) were all purchased as puppies. Almost all of our dogs (including our current five) have been rescues (as in shown up at our house starving).
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can remember, Kelly. I wanted a Dalmatian briefly after the cartoon came out but changed my mind rather quickly when I saw my little floppy eared friend for the first time.
DeleteYou are a loyal Basset Hound fan! Two great photos!
ReplyDeleteGuilty!
Delete12? I'm not good at judging age!
ReplyDeleteI can confirm that you are not, Margaret.
Delete14 is my guess. I've never had a Basset but they sure are cute dogs. I've only had retrievers. But c'mon all dogs are great right?
ReplyDelete15 or 16 is my guess. We had a number of family pets, all dogs and all strays, when I was growing up but none that were assigned specifically to me. I wonder if that was a farm thing since they mostly lived outside and took care of themselves. All the city kids I knew had pet that were specifically given to them.
DeleteIt is hard to beat a retriever, Peggy. They are pretty awesome and I am glad I have one of them too.
DeleteYour childhood relationship with dogs sounds a lot like Mrs. Shife's, Ed. She also grew up on a farm and had a lot of pound dogs that helped out with some farm stuff.
Delete55? 60? Oh wait! Wrong picture.
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to hurt my feelings, Mike? It is bad enough the Cardinals are awful and then you lay this crap on me.
DeleteGreta dup of photos, but I think the kid in photo 1 is 14.
ReplyDeleteGreta dup? Are you kidnapped, Bob, and trying to get a message to me?
DeleteYou were 12.
ReplyDeleteI was, Joanne, but not in that picture.
DeleteI'm going to guess 14. Cripes but you and Kyle look a lot alike. My father used to say, "I have to raise them right because I'll never be able to deny them."
ReplyDeleteLove that quote, Debby.
DeleteOMG I thought it was your son!
ReplyDeleteAnd that doggie is adorable. I had dogs when I was little but have never felt the need to have one as an adult.
XOXO
You are not alone in that thought, Sixpence.

ReplyDeleteThough we never had a dog when I was growing up (parents had enough trouble dealing with 6 boys), I developed a penchant for beagles and beagle mixes as an adult. My first two were puppies and the last 3 have been rescues. We currently have a beagle-chihuahua mix (the brain is all chihuahua) and a beagle-basset mix. I like to say his nose is twice blessed 🐶
A bagel!! How cute!!
DeleteLove both these pictures! I would guess you were about 14-15 in the first one! The first dog we owned was a puppy and all of our pets since then have been rescues!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeanette
DeleteI love your pictures.
