Pretend that I am a substitute blogger and we are going to watch a movie today instead of reading about Mr. Shife's latest and greatest adventures (part of the reason I don't feel like posting is because the creative tank is almost empty.)
If you could pick one film, what would it be?
Cora Munro: Duncan, you are a man with a few admirable qualities, but taken as a whole, I was wrong to have thought so highly of you.
My pick would be "The Last of the Mohicans" with Daniel Day-Lewis. It's a movie that checks all of the boxes for me: amazing story, awesome action, beautiful cinematography, extraordinary characters, and dazzling dialogue. Below I shared a quote from the movie where Cora tells Duncan that he is a big old turd but in a diplomatic way.
Duncan: You are defending him because you've become infatuated with him!Cora Munro: Duncan, you are a man with a few admirable qualities, but taken as a whole, I was wrong to have thought so highly of you.
I think I'll have to go with watching "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" for the 1,000,001st time.
ReplyDeleteI might have to watch that for the 4th time. It's been a bit.
DeleteI'd go with The Wizard of Oz since no film in the history of cinema has had a greater impact on the world.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I know it has had a impact but I hadn't heard it was the greatest.
Delete13th Floor...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have seen this one.
DeleteOne film is too hard and I would probably pick a French one like "Amelie."
ReplyDeleteSoild choice.
DeleteI think I slept through Last of the Mohegans a couple times at least. But I was younger then. Perhaps I should rewatch it and see if it has gotten better.
ReplyDeleteI guess if I had to pick one, I would pick the Godfather series. Whenever I find it on cable, I can't help but finish it. It is like an offer I can't refuse.
I don't know if I can watch Godfather 3 again.
DeleteLove The Last of the Mohicans so given that I would have to go with another Daniel Day Lewis film, 'My Left Foot.'
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one, Bob.
DeleteThe Princess Bride, hands down.
ReplyDeleteInconceivable!
DeleteYou should watch anything by Almodóvar. Go ahead, practice your Spanish.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
I looked at his filmography and I don't think I have seen one of his films.
DeleteI LOVE the soundtrack of the Last of The Mohicans! I own it. The Gael is one of my favorite reels. Dpugie MacLean is amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt is one of the best soundtracks ever.
DeletePS Daniel Day-Lewis sure is not hard on my eyes either.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Which DDL movie makes your eyes the happiest?
DeleteA Gregory Peck combo for me. To Kill a Mockingbird and Captain Newman, M.D.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with the second one, Deedles.
Delete!962 or 1963. Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis, Bobby Darin ( Oscar nominee), Angie Dickenson and a bunch of recognizable character actors. Watching it made me look i up the book in the library. Leo Rosten was the author of the book. Poignant and funny, and perhaps a bit dated. Check it out.
DeleteI've never seen this, but if i had to choose I'd go with something that makes me laugh. Fool's Gold; The Pirate Movie; My Blue Heaven.
ReplyDeleteSoild choices, River.
DeleteIt was always exciting to come into a classroom and have a TV cart waiting! I haven't seen or read "The Last of the Mohicans" but I once lived on a road named Mohican
ReplyDeleteYou should check out the movie, Jeff.
DeleteI still remember the joy of walking into a classroom and seeing that sitting there!
ReplyDeleteIt was the best.
DeleteDoes it have to be educational? How about Pride and Prejudice?
