5/4/23

Hey, it's May!
And it is also Star Wars Day.
May the Fourth be with you.
I am a little late with my monthly update but better late than never, right?
Well, I guess you will be the judge of that.
I hope you are staying safe and sane in your corner of the world.
Thanks for stopping by, hope all is well and I might talk to you tomorrow.

April challenge update

Blogging every day was a success.
It was so much fun that I am still blogging every day.
When will it end?
I have no idea.
OK, I have some ideas.

May challenge

Be a better sports dad.
My body language and comments have not been the best at some of Hayden's softball games.
I need to remember she is only 11 and this isn't professional softball.
I don't need to be "that guy."

May collars

Here is Ms. Frizzle's collar for the month:

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.

  2. I am appalled at the parental shouting at team sports, not just at kids but at coaches and referees. It seems very ugly compared to my childhood. Fortunately my kids aren't into those types of sports. Cross country is fairly spacious to get away from all the shouters and track isn't too bad because it is just limited to the kids and so is usually just encouragement albeit at an insane volume and frequency at times.

    1. No shouting from me, Ed, but I see it a lot. I just have bad body language sometimes and mumble things to Mrs. Shife. It is not a good look and I can do better.

  5. Nifty, really? How did I not know that, language nerd that I am? Lucy has GROWN! I'm glad that you're aware of your body language and want to fix it. Kids' sports can be stressful...for the parents!

  6. When my son played baseball, there was one dad on his team that was so bad. Thankfully, they had a good coach who supported the umpires

  7. Don't be hard on yourself, just taper off and by the end of the season no one will remember.

  8. Our kids are the most important thing in the universe and it's HARD to remember that it's just a game and that even a week from the event that's currently pissing you off you'll be past it and no one will care about it even happening. One of our kids played baseball. We had coaches that probably shouldn't have been coaching with only one exception. He was good. Ha, I should write about it sometime.

Some of 'my' kids are playing spring ball and several are on the same team. They seem to be enjoying it.

  9. I didn't know you were blogging every day. Welcome to the club!! Sharks do go to church, and in their religion it's okay to eat meat on Fridays.

    1. Oof, I really feel that childhood memories meme. Seems like every week I have a new ache or limitation. Probably because I'm sitting too much, which I'm trying to rectify.

Kudos for recognizing SPS (Sports Parent Syndrome) early and working on it. Being a good parent doesn't mean being perfect, it means doing exactly as you are doing, seeing something to work on and giving it your best shot.
