Howdy April

Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, Happy April!
And it is also April Fools Day.
Did you participate?
I did not.
I was trying to think of something to share fool-related but the only thing that popped into my head was the song "Foolin'" by Def Leppard
Classic butt rock from the '80s.

I was a big fan of these hard rockers from England.
This was the first full album I bought with my own money.
And I cranked that "Pyromania" album so much I started craving bangers and mash.
The other thing I thought of was a pretty big prank pulled off by Sports Illustrated about this baseball rookie phenom named Sidd Finch.
What about you?
Does anything come to mind when thinking about April Fool's Day?

I hope you are staying safe and sane in your corner of the world.
Thanks for stopping by, hope all is well and I will talk to you tomorrow.

March challenge update

Going without red sauce wasn't too hard and I made it.
Unfortunately, I can't celebrate my accomplishment with a pizza because I am currently torturing myself with a low-carb diet for a few more days.

  1. My only April Fools involvement today was posting on my blog. Good luck with that low carb challenge! I assume you're having bacon and eggs for supper.

    1. It sure feels like I am eating a lot of the same things every day, Debra. Only a few more days to go.

  2. Mother Nature was the Merry prankster here. It was a beautiful morning. Warm. The temper dropped, the wind went wild. Pink lightning, downed trees, power coming and going all day.

    1. Hope today is a better day for you guys, Debby. Lots of crazy storms the past few days in the US.

  3. I did not participate nor did I fall for any of the lame posts I saw on Facebook. (eye roll) I've read all the Strike books save the last tome (1,000 pages); I'm sure the show is on some streaming service that I don't have. Everything seems to be these days!

  4. I got taken by an April Fool's joke when my local favorite musical group posted a "flashback" post of their appearance on David Letterman. My initial reaction was that I had missed it somehow and couldn't believe it. They I unmuted my phone and listened to it again and heard the poor voice over of Letterman's voice at points and realized I had been had and realized what day it was. I then tried to pull one over on my kids and didn't get very far. Someone needs to remind me of these things ahead of time so I can prepare!

    1. I thought about doing one to the kids this year as well, Ed, but I had to take Lucy to a walk-in vet clinic on Saturday morning. We were there nearly 3 hours so I wasn't feeling creative when I got home. Lucy is fine. Just a UTI but the place was so busy and only 1 vet.

  5. I always found April Fools tone annoying. I’m just not a fan of pranks. But I did love Def Leppard, back in the day. Those were my college years, when you were just a young lad. We are watching Succession, too. My fave character is Greg. I’m glad to see Franklin books are keeping up with the times. What website is that from?? I would enjoy.

    1. I am a big fan of Greg too, Bijoux. I also love Tom. Franklin is all about relevancy. I will see what I can find about his new website. =)

  6. The best April Fools joke I saw was on from the Battle Hawks, our XFL team, that said they were going to move to Los Angeles (which is what the Rams did several years back.)

  7. Oh I forgot it was April Fools day. I'm here in AZ at the moment and I've lost track of time.

  8. I did not partake in April Fool's. I think it kinda slipped by me.

  9. That Star Wars meme - lol! Sorry to read about your long wait at the vet clinic. It's crazy how hard it is to get a vet appointment here. We now have to call at opening time on Mondays to get triaged for appts for that week only. If you call after all the spots are taken, too bad. If your issue isn't critical, too bad. If you want to switch vets, you are looking at over an hour's drive away. It is starting to resemble our people health care.
