  • Today is a milestone for me as I hit 6 months sober. It is still hard for me to wrap my head around but I did it. Ironically, I will be spending a chunk of my day in Mountain Home for Hayden's softball games. I went to high school in Mountain Home and this is where I also started my unhealthy association with booze.

  • I went with "other" for my birthday movie and watched "Cannonball Run" with Kyle as he wanted to watch this one for a while now. We also watched "Tropic Thunder," another movie on his wish list but he had to wait until he was 14.

  • Speaking of Kyle, he has really taken a big step forward with track this season. He sets a new PR almost every time he runs and is consistently running 6-minute miles and runs under 3 minutes in the 800. He is doing all of this while dealing with a really bad case of shin splints. We are really proud of him.

Short and sweet today as we have a busy day of softball and choring.
Hope you are doing great and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  2. Congrats on 6 months!!! Enjoy your weekend with the kids. I just received a photo of my 3 YO granddaughter at her first t-ball practice. She looks like her mama, throwing that ball (my daughter who was a pitcher).

  4. I know how hard it is to quit something. I quit smoking 14 years ago. I won't start again; I don't intend ever to quit again. Congratulations on six months sober, and on the courage to get there.

  12. That's good news, Mr. S. It's not an easy thing to make big changes in life, and you are doing it. I drank more than I should have in university and it never led to any good. I was tempted to use alcohol to numb the pain since my husband's death, but I was afraid for my health (I have a fatty liver so it's already stressed). Now if I could just get a better handle on my emotional eating . . . and I am making progress, it's just not a straight line. Kudos to you and here's to success for all those who struggle.

  13. P. S. Kyle sounds like a natural runner . . . aided by hard work and the ability to ignore pain :)
