4/25/23

Thank you for the birthday wishes.
Much appreciated and I am extremely grateful that I have folks in my life that make me feel special.
I had a good day.
Nothing too exciting.
At my advanced age, this is a good thing because we can't get the motor running too hot.
Two humorous things to share.
First, Mrs. Shife is too funny.
For her birthday, I got her a sappy, lovey-dovey type of card but I totally misplaced it and found it about a week later. I gave it to her - unsigned - and apologized for my forgetfulness.
We have a collection of cards so I assumed it would go in that pile and I could use it next year.
In theory that sounds great but I will not remember the card next year.
Mrs. Shife is also smart and she knew that so she took that card and modified it to be my birthday card.
It made me LOL.

Second, my co-workers know that I like Nic Cage.
And it drives some of them crazy because he's a little eccentric.
Since I know this, I really play up how much I adore him to push their buttons.
So I shared with them that this was my birthday cake this year:

And since I am a little eccentric, a majority of them actually believe I got this cake.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you are doing great and I will talk to you tomorrow.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. I have a friend who traded the same anniversary card back and forth with his wife for a couple decades plus. I always thought that was a neat idea.

Do you watch CBS Sunday Morning? If you didn't see it, you better google it up because they did a interview piece with Nicolas Kim Coppola, aka Nick Cage. Yes, anyone who has a huge bird cage in the middle of his living room is eccentric.

  3. I may have confused my shows or they shared the interview with 60 Minutes too.

  4. I've done the same thing over the years with cards AND presents. I'll buy something months ahead and hide it away and forget all about it. I now only buy stuff the day before.

  5. I haven't been around much the past week or so, but it's nice to see the Month of Blogging.
Happy belated birthday and count me as someone who thought maybe you DID get that cake!

  6. That cake is hilarious. If I was Mrs. Shife, you'd be getting that cake. Next year. After you've forgotten about this year's post.

  8. My sister-in-law is also a huge fan of his. And I swear, her husband kind of looks like him, too. Too funny that your coworkers believed that was your cake, but maybe they think Mrs. Shife is just a really cool wife.

  9. Oh, I think Nicholas Cage is cool. Even since Moonstruck? Yes, please.
And the card swap was awesome! OMG too funny.
The best tidbit? That they thought you actually got that cake. It tells you they think you're a little cookie but cool.

    XOXO

  12. Not sure if you know this little tidbit of info, but Nicholas Cage has a pyramid in New Orleans' oldest cemetery. I guess he plans to be buried there. Fans leave lipsticked kisses on it.
