Hello 2023

Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, I am happy to be back after a much-needed holiday break. Is anyone feeling silly in the new year and down to take couples counseling with me and see at what point the therapist realizes we don't even know each other?

A very happy 2023 to you and yours.
2023?
Still trying to wrap my head around that.
How is the new year treating you so far?
We kicked off the year by getting Lucy fixed.
She is on day 2 of recovery and starting to act like herself again, which is awesome news for everyone except Ms. Frizzle as Lucy still considers her the world's largest chew toy.
Kyle and Hayden are still on break until next week while me and Mrs. Shife went back to work this week.
Other than that, we are good and looking forward to the new year.
Thanks for stopping by, hope your week is going well and I will talk to you soon.

December challenge update

The challenge was to keep all of my dirty socks not turned inside out.
Mission accomplished.
I also made it another month without drinking.
NYE was a little tough because that has always been a big boozing day for me but I survived.

January challenge

Lose some weight.
I think I mentioned that my sweet tooth went crazy when I took a break from alcohol.
Well, the scale also went crazy.
I need to drop about 5 pounds of fudge and molasses cookies this month.
Wish me luck.

What am I watching?

This is what I have on my streaming to-do list:

Slow Horses - Season 2
The Middle - Season 5

Hate watching

Yellowstone - Season 5

Rewatching

Seinfeld - Season 6
Justified - Season 1

What am I not reading?

Meme dump

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. I'm stoked that Slow Horses is set to film both seasons 3 and 4. It's been a really good watch. As for 'hate watch', I could totally see Yellowstone fitting the bill, but I can no longer stomach watching anything with K. Costner.
May Lucy heal well from her procedure!

  2. Good job on the drinking! I'm looking for a new book to read but I'll pass on this one.

  3. Good job on the no drinking! I didn't do so on NYE but did have one beer on NY Day. Not much of a partier these days. I would love to drop 15 pounds but why does it have to be so much work? I've gotten lazy as the weather has gotten colder and windier. Or just unmotivated? Seinfeld would be fun to re-watch.

  4. Justified. Love that show.

I'll hate that couple with you and we can discuss it at counseling.

  5. Happy New Year... I'm still trying to kick the COVID that I picked up at the end of 2022.

  6. I haaaaated Yellowstone as well. Maybe we need to start a club.

Carlton Mellick the Third has written 45 novels? Just for giggles, I'm going to skip those as well.

    Good job not drinking.

  7. Boy, those Sauna Belts do work some miracles, don't they, LOL? My Rare One is hooked on watching "Yellowstone" right now. I haven't seen it.

  10. So glad your NY went well. Good job on the booze. And I, too, need to lose a few lbs. Congrats on Lucy, believe me, there is nothing worse than the drip, drip, drip of a dog in heat.

  11. Great memes! I’ve heard weird things about Yellowstone. I’m proud of you for not drinking for that long. I couldn’t do it, but then again, I’ve had to give up sugar, carbs, and salt, so I’m limited on what I can have already. And wine is on the ok list!

  13. I started eating low carb about 5 months ago and it helped me drop a whole dress size in that time. I hope you have a good year.

  14. Happy New Year! Congratulations on the not drinking part but keeping your socks righ-side out? That my friend is a true accomplishment! My hubby struggles with that every night!

    Happy 2023!
Congrats on not drinking. That's never been much of an issue since one (or two) is usually all I want. Food and losing weight... OMG, that's been a huge struggle for me most of my life.
We just finished the Jack Ryan series. Like it a lot. Yellowstone.. we've watched a good bit, meh, don't really care either way about finishing the newer season.
Team Lucrizzle... love it, they're all so sweet!

Technology... grrr....&$%@# I don't know if the last comment went thru... put in name/URL so as not to be 'anonymous' but got bounced to the main page. Yes, I'm signed in, yes I checked cookies. It still happens. ? LOL

  16. Happy New Year, Mr. Shife!!!
Love the pics of the doggies (and the Lucrizze team!). I am also on a mission with the weight thing. I ate way too many delicious things during the holiday break and did not exercise enough. Walking on the beach does not count as exercise.
And congrats on cutting on the alcohol intake. *hugs*

    XOXO
