Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, I am huge fan of daylight savings time ending and absolutely love that it gets dark at 5 pm for the next few months.

5 pm usually signals the end of the work day so I have always been a big fan of that philosophy.
A very happy November to you and yours.
The Shifleys are not as busy this month but we have still some stuff going on.
Kyle is enjoying his off-season and has no plans for a winter sport, Hayden is done with her fall sports but is meeting with her softball coach once a week for pitching drills and is going to have a birthday in a few weeks, Mrs. Shife is counting down the days until she is no longer PTO president and is starting to plan Thanksgiving festivites as we will have family in town, Ms. Frizzle is enjoying her daily walks and several sessions of fetch, and I am still driving Ms. Lucy to her dog obedience classes.

October challenge update

Breakfast every day.
I did it.
Started out with peanut butter toast and closed out the month with hash browns.

November challenge

Clean up something.
Messy desk? Clean it.
Car interior looks like it had a one-night stand with pinata? Clean it.
House interior looks like you own two dogs? Clean it.
Dirty butt? Clean it.
You get the idea.

Here is Ms. Frizzle's collar for the month:

Here is Ms. Lucy's collar for the month:

She is no longer identifying as a nudist (Lucy the nudist is still a great punk rock band name, Sixpence) but she did consider the beneftis of being a pumpkin for a brief moment:

  1. oh my gosh that last one made me spit my coffee. Yep that's my parallel parking experience. You've been busy and dutifully did your monthly list. I need to try that. :-) That pic of Lucy and Ms Fizzle in bed is great. Ms. Fiz is either getting to like Lucy or just gave up and is tolerating her exsistance. ๐Ÿ˜ Hey what did you think of the endingn of Bad Sisters? Finally! The Prick was Dead!!

    1. They aren't the bestest of friends, Peg, but Frizz gets along with her and tolerates her enthusiasm for the most part. I thoroughly enjoyed Bad Sisters. It was a great show.

  2. I wish I could mentally upload the parallel parking attempt I partially witnessed yesterday as I drove by in the opposite direction. The person was going in backwards at a 90 degree angle and when the back wheels were only maybe two feet from the curb, started cranking the wheel. Meanwhile they had traffic blocked up the rest of the block, in a small town with hardly any traffic!

  3. NOT a fan here either. I dislike losing the afternoon light. :( French is notoriously difficult to spell but not so much if you've studied the phonetics of it. (which I have) I would not get hung.

    1. I took two years of French in high school, Margaret, and remember not doing well because of that reason.

  4. My dear Mr. Shife, I'm so glad to see that you have as many dog toys scattered across the floor as I do. I notice that was was not included on your November challenge. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž

    1. Oh yes, we have quite the toy center here at Casa de Shifley, Dave R. Cleaning it up has been a daily chore like the brushing teeth so I overlooked it.

  5. I like it when it gets dark at 5pm. I would rather have that than bright sunshine.

    1. I think you get a lot more sunshine than we do up here in Idaho, Mary, so I don't blame you.

  6. A one night stand with a piรฑata! That is a classic! Glad Lucy didn’t get her head stuck in the pumpkin bucket like a deer did in our last neighborhood.

    1. Is there a picture of said deer? I feel bad for taking pictures of Lucy for a moment before I rescued her.

  7. You still sound pretty busy to me. I don't like the long dark days either but just think when it hits winter solstice, we start going the other way. Loved the last meme and two dogs snuggling are the best!

    1. I also countdown to the winter solstice, kden.

  10. Miss Lucy?! I think I've missed a bit re: the Shife household. She looks like a sweetie, btw.
Ep. 1 of White Lotus Season 2 did not disappoint. My husband has been watching Andor and really enjoys it. I've not yet partaken. I'm partial to Reboot (Hulu) with Rachel Bloom, Paul Reiser, Keegan-Michael Key, etc. If you've not yet had a gander at it, then I would recommend you add it to the watch list.

    1. Yep you missed a little bit, Bea. We got Ms. Lucy about 7 weeks ago. A few adjustments here and there with Ms. Frizzle but all is good now. Did enjoy first episode of White Lotus and I have heard good things about Reboot.

  12. I think getting dark at five is fine. DST is kind of a drag.
The doggies having their own collars every month is absolutely cute (and if I ever have a punk rock band THAT's the name!). Also, the doggies are adorable. I had no idea obedience classes existed. Some people need to attend to those.
And I agree. The Marquis would make an excellent patron saint.

    XOXO

P.S. I' saving the second season of The White Lotus to binge watch it.

  13. that's exactly how I park.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Glad you are having a not so busy month this time! I don't like the getting dark earlier part of DST but I do like it getting light a little earlier in the morning! Six of one-half dozen of the other! Oh and not to brag but years ago at my job I used to have to parallel park every morning and got pretty good at it. A few weeks ago I found myself having to parallel park and I found out I still got it! Whipped right in that spot like it was nobodies business!

  16. I used to always have breakfast, was a big fan of cheerios. Vacationing with 2 girl friends who do fasting and eat one meal a day, or maybe 2 ish I got out of the habit and so never do. If we had a big brunch we would do a light dinner. If we knew we were doing a big dinner we would do that earlier than normal and that's how they control their weight I guess. I like to eat lunch and dinner. Though sometimes have a breakfast bar, so am curious why you made eating breakfast a challenge for the month of October. Your cleaning one for November is a good one. Can relate to the Mrs. Shife being excited to no longer being the President of the PTO. Did too much of that when my daughter was in school. Nice that activities for the kids is getting a bit less. I often think today's kids are over programmed and don't have enough time to just be kids, like we did back in the dark ages. Though I remember my daughter was busy all the time.

  17. that's kind of sad for your patron saint's last words before his sentence of death being carried out was to correct the spelling of the sentence. That probably made the judge all the more willing to be done with him.
