Hello October

Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, I am a slow walker. I know it is annoying. However, as an individual slow walker, I don't pose much of a threat and shouldn't cause much frustration because there is only one of me. I am not a sidewalk blocker who doesn't know to stick to one side (or worse, weave back and forth). I am also not one who is distracted by their cell phones, hogging space, and obtuse to your desire to get by.

Wow. I really went out of my way to let you know that I have returned from my break.
But now you know that I am a slow walker, and maybe that info will help you to finalize those Christmas gift ideas for me, which is only 81 days away.
Anyway, a very happy October to you and yours.
October is another busy month for the Shifleys.
Kyle is still running cross country, Hayden has fall softball and is now playing basketball, Mrs. Shife is even busier with her PTO activities because the school puts on a big Halloween party, and I am done with my softball season so I am just driving everyone around including Ms. Lucy who is started her dog obedience classes.

September challenge update

Daily blog updates.
I did it.
Thanks to you for participating as well.
It kept me coming back.

October challenge

Eat breakfast every morning.
I get bored with the options I have so I just skip it but I know my mind and body will be much happier with me if I have something besides hot tea in the morning.

October collar

Here is Ms. Frizzle's collar for the month:

Here is Ms. Lucy's collar for the month:

She is still identifying as a nudist so no collar yet.

Lucrizzle update

I think we are going to be alright as a two-dog family.

Health check

Apparently, I unlocked the corneal ulcer badge while on Level 52 during the Game of Life.
It is quite an accomplishment.
Redness, swelling, feeling like something is stuck in your eye, and pain.
Lots of pain.
Good times.
Fortunately, it was diagnosed early and my eye is feeling much better.

What I am watching?

This is what I have on my streaming to-do list:

House of the Dragon - Season 1
Bad Sisters - Season 1
Welcome to Wrexham - Season 1
Reservation Dogs - Season 2
Sprung - Season 1
Tokyo Vice - Season 1
Andor - Season 1

Thanks for stopping by, hope your week is going well and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. Ouch on the eye! Never heard of that. The photo of the two dogs is precious. You are a slow walker whereas I am a fast one. I would skirt around you like a lightning bolt. ;)

  2. I wonder if you ever would compile a list of the programs Mrs. Schife watches.

  3. Ouch. I have now holding my eye in sympathy pains, though I am laughing at Miss Lucy's nudist stance.

    1. Thanks, Bob. Lucy the nudist does have a nice ring to it.

  4. I have never even heard of your eye issue. Is it one of those, ‘only time will heal’ things? I recommend avocado toast for breakfast. Incredibly yummy!

    1. The eye drops are helping quite a bit. Thanks for the recommendation, Bijoux.

  5. Oh no! Not the eye! Rats!
Hope it's nothing too serious, though. Keep us posted.
And the two doggies together are way too cute! Love their rapport.
I am also watching Reservation Dogs and House of Dragon. Very good shows.
Lucy the Nudist is the name of my Punk Rock Band now.

    XOXO

    1. It's a bummer but on the mend now. Thanks, Sixpence. I can't wait until I can buy a band t-shirt.

  6. Star Trek is simply Great! Andor is fine as well. Sorry about the eye. I'm very sensitive about mine, that's why I don't wear contacts. Tried them once; small, round sandpaper discs is what they were. Puppies at Play. They do warm you heart.

    1. I think mine are trying to tell me that contacts might not be for me after all these years, Dave R. This is the second episode I have had in the last few months.

Yikes about the eye ulcer! I love your doggos! Fall is particularly busy for parents. Grandparents get to be lazier. Keep walking slow. =:]

  9. I used to walk fast but now it makes my hips hurt. I'm also a weaver and am always crashing into whoever is nearest. Love the doggy pictures, looks like they're officially friends now. I'm not even going to click on the eyeball link. I have a hard time with eye pics, always have. But I'm glad you're on the mend, sure doesn't sound pleasant.

  10. Okay, This is quite strange. Last Saturday, I drove over five hours feeling as if something was in my eye. It was an awful trip. Once home, things got worse. I used some red out eye drops, and went to bed with a cold cloth over my eye. I look ready for Halloween with my deeply bloodshot eye, but I feel much better. Your post sent me off to read. I think that I had a corneal laceration.

I am glad that Lucy and Mrs. Frizzle are glad that you're going to be a two dog family. If they had not supported the decision, you'd have been well and truly screwed.

  11. Ouch with the eye! Anything with the eyes makes me queasy. It's the reason I can't do contacts.

  12. Slow walking is only a real problem when you're on one of those movers at the airport and you block up those of who move. Eating breakfast every morning...hum. I used to, but about a year ago stopped as a means of losing a bit of weight. I honestly don't think it helped; but now I am out of the routine of eatting breakfast. Good luck with your quest. I don't recognize any of those shows.

  13. Too bad about your eye, Hope it continues to heal. I am forced to eat breakfast every morning because of medication I have to take. It's a good thing or otherwise I would be so hungry by lunch time I would eat everything in sight! Love the puppy pics!

  14. I'm glad your eye is getting better. I eat breakfast because I'm diabetic and if I don't eat, it's not pretty. lol
