Hello September

Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, I am a failed Zimbabwean bus driver because I let 20 mental patients I was transporting from Harare to Bulawayo escape and I have been asked to be a foot model judge at the Annie Wilkes School of Podiatry.

Hi there, it's Mr. Shife, I am a failed Zimbabwean bus driver because I let 20 mental patients I was transporting from Harare to Bulawayo escape and I have been asked to be a foot model judge at the Annie Wilkes School of Podiatry.

OK. Now it's fixed.
Sort of.
I have never even been a successful foot model let alone a failed one, but, when I'm feeling a little mischievous, I like to tell strangers that I used to be an ace in the sole.
It amuses me and it is outrageous and obscure enough that people might actually believe it.
Now that I have put my best foot forward let's move on.
A very happy September to you and yours.
Only 144 shopping days until Christmas.
September means we are going to be busier than a one-toothed man in a corn-on-the-cob eating contest.
Besides the kids being back in school, Kyle is running cross country, Hayden has fall softball, Mrs. Shife gets busy with her PTO president activities, I have a softball tournament in Las Vegas and the lovely wife and I will be celebrating 18 years of marriage.

August challenge update

I attempted to stay in the present and for the most part it worked.
We still had a touch of verschlimmbesserung but we powered through.

September challenge

Daily blog updates.
I like to do this once a year and this seems like a good time to get after it.
Wish me luck.

September collar

Here is Ms. Frizzle's collar for the month:

Sweet tooth

Since I had a sweet tooth setback again - it has been 0 days since my last candy bar - I need to probably focus on something else. Since Snickers can technically be counted as a protein bar and they taste so much better than cardboard, I will stick with them.

What I am watching?

This is what I have on my streaming to-do list:

House of the Dragon - Season 1
Bad Sisters - Season 1
Welcome to Wrexham - Season 1
Reservation Dogs - Season 2
Sprung - Season 1
We Own This City - limited series

Meme dump

Thanks for stopping by, hope your week is going well and I will talk to you soon.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. Happy Anniversary! I vote that Mrs. Schife joins you in Vegas to celebrate! If you eat chocolate covered nuts, maybe that wouldn’t count as a candy bar? Just a thought.

  2. I have a tendency to use our animals' names as a starting point and then just call them whatever comes to mind ... like Tuxedo became Tuck-a-boo which morphed into Boo Kitty and then landed on Books ... which rhymes with kooks.
Consuelo's is worse because, and I don't know how this happened, she has become Miss Schmizzle, and when I called her that today I instantly thought of Ms Frizzle. Perhaps they're related???

    1. Perhaps, Bob. Technically they all have some of the same DNA.

  3. Happy September and Anniversary! It does sound like it's going to be a busy month. That long German word is very fitting sometimes. Yogurt covered raisins--almost a health food? ;)

  4. Congrats on the anniversary. I thought Strange New Worlds was great! No story arc! Snickers is not a protein bar, sorry. Never wanted to be any type of model, but I have a college friend who became a hand model in NYC - he made a fortune holding golf clubs, and wine glasses, and wearing very expensive watches.

    1. Thanks, Dave R. I am going to pretend you didn't say that about Snickers.

  5. Oh shit. 18 years! Yay!
I am watching House of the Dragon and Reservation Dogs. So GOOD. And now you reminded me I need to post something about that.
Love Ms. Frizzle's collar! So fashionable. Dolly Parton has a doggie line now. You've been warned.

    XOXO

    1. Mrs. Shife told me about Dolly's line. I am scared to look, Sixpence, because I will probably want to buy a lot of it.

  6. Dear Mr. DW Guy, Was the Snickers a throwback moment that failed? You will be so busy with personal responsibilities to sports programs to not need them this time. And the wedding anniversary celebration, and Mrs. Frizzles new collar.

  7. I always tell people I'm a Child Behavioral Modification Therapist and I've had exactly zero people get that is code for a stay at home dad. Most just instantly get glazed eyes and hurriedly change the topic which is fine by me as well.

  8. Cool collar, do you save all the old ones? I'm that busy too, but I guess in a different way. I'm usually wrangling kittens, not kids. I love Sprung, it's great to see part of the old gang back together. Reservation Dogs rule! And as always, great memes. Abe has started to try and bury his trio of food dishes, even the water. And he wonders why his bowl is always empty :)

  11. Working my way back and catching up. Good luck on the challenge. Even during my best years I could not post consistently everyday for a month.
