Where in The World Were The Shifleys?

You might have noticed my absence last week.
And if you did, then let's pretend that we had this imaginary conversation:

You: Looks like you've been missing quite a bit of blogging lately.
Me: Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve been missing it.

That's not true.
I really, really did miss you.
I just wanted an excuse to tweak one of my favorite quotes from "Office Space."
Anyhoo, the Shifleys took a super long weekend to celebrate the end of the school year and headed out to other glamorous and warmer locales for about 6 days.
So it's you job to figure out what we did.
Don't worry I will give you some clues.
Ready?

Maybe we showed other tourists how not to take photos by staring directly into the sun.

Maybe we just stayed at home and watched Top Gun: Maverick on the big screen every single day.

Maybe I took that leap of faith and finally began my career as a furniture model.

Maybe Hayden learned how to hypnotize Kyle with cake in between marathon swimming sessions.

Maybe I was busy working on my middle-aged man taking selfies with a llama calendar

Maybe I was reconsidering softball as my hobby

Maybe we were trying to recover from Kyle chopping off his mullet

Maybe I am a really lucky guy and Mrs. Shife let me play in a softball tournament all weekend long in Reno, Nevada while she took Kyle and Hayden to their cousin's graduation in Sacramento.

Any guesses?
Thanks for stopping by, talk to you soon and I hope you are doing well.

I will persevere.
I will keep moving forward.
I will be the stream.

  1. HA! Sliding into second base raspberry? How funny is it that you tell yourself you're not going to do that but you do it anyway because it's automatic. I would get mine on my calf. (He says to himself, I've got shorts on, don't slide.)

    1. Diving in the outfield to make a catch and then the bruise spread throughout my leg. But I can confirm that I tell myself to stop that but then I do it sometime later in the game.

Sort oflike that first clue, I am so guilty of squinting while having my picture taken. :-) But I'm thinking it was the softball tourney (ouch on that injury). Hope y'all had fun doing.....whatever!

  3. I'm going to bet that you did buy that sectional, and possibly had someone slide into you while you were covering home plate playing softball... possibly in Reno.

That's one nasty-looking, hurting leg. I hope you all had a great time, no matter what you did or where you went! From the smiles in the pictures, I'd say you all did :)

  6. It looks like you all had a good time with Top Gun, furniture shopping, swimming, and family time all thrown in the mix. All of your pictures are great! That is one big boo-boo on your leg. I bet it has turned all kinds of pretty colors. My favorite picture has to be the selfie with a llama! That's a winner!

Me and Mrs. Shife use that quote all the time as well, Ed.
They could have a good time modernizing that movie with the mask mandates, Zoom meetings, etc.

I'm going with you're in witness protection and these are fake photos to throw off your gangster pursuers until you can testify about their dastardly deeds (I've been binge watching my In Plain Sight DVDs again) You have a lovely family. Are you sure Kyle isn't a clone? He looks just like you!

  21. Here I've been, smirking that I haven't had any problems commenting on blogs--but I'm sure I've already commented once on this post. I remember remarking on your bruise and the beautiful photos of the family. I also mentioned that I'd been to Reno once for a gymnastics meet but it wasn't hot because it was winter. It's fun to get away and it looks like you combined many meaningful and fun activities. (except the bruise)

  23. Ouch on the bruise, but hope you won. Sounds like you had a good time. The kids sure know how to kick off the start of summer vacation with the swimming, and eating. Nice family picture. I thought squinting into the sun was written in the rule book...whew knew. Welcome back to blog land.

  25. Ouch! The bruise looked a bit hurty, but glad it wasn't worse. The rest of it ... fun times! Good to get away. Nice photos.
