Let the madness begin.
It is going to be a busy month.
We have two birthdays.
Kyle will be a teenager at the end of the month and millions and millions of people will celebrate the anniversary of Mrs. Shife's birth.
She was born on St. Patrick's Day so it's not too hard finding folks who want to party.
We also have spring break, Kyle hopefully joining his school's tennis team, Hayden starts playing softball, I start playing softball, and Mrs. Shife tries to keep track of our whereabouts while not going crazy from being the PTO president at Hayden's school.
March challenge
The challenge this month is to march away the mess.
We have lots of clutter - physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and electronic.
And they need to find a new home.
I cleaned out my closet yesterday.
Only a few skeletons in there.
And today I organized the 7,000 open tabs on my browser and now I only have 8.
Yay me!
March collar
Here's Ms. Frizzle collar for the month:
Idiot of the week
Me.
I have been reading a lot about what is going on in the Ukraine so I got a little confused when I saw "Fiona Hill" was trending.
I thought "Hmmm. She sings and she's also an expert on Vladimir Putin. How interesting."
Well, Donny McDumDumPants here, got Fiona Hill confused with Fiona Apple.
Ms. Hill is a foreign affairs specialist and Ms. Apple is a singer probably best known for her song, "Criminal."
I am still looking for something or someone to throw under the bus for that mental mistake.
I am not having much luck.
Maybe I only I have limited capacity for Fionas in my brain.
The only other ones are Princess Fiona from Shrek and Fiona Gallagher from Shameless.
Do you have a Fiona in your life?
What I am watching?
Since I don't read that much, this is what I hope to watch if I do get some free time this month:
Psych - Season 1 - Kyle and I are watching this
Modern Family - Season 10 - Hayden and I are watching this
Once Upon A Time - Season 1 - The whole family is watching this
This Is Us - Season 6
Raised by Wolves - Season 2
Ozark - Season 4
Our Flag Means Death - Season 1
Vikings: Valhalla - Season 1
Amazing Race - Season 33
Modern Family - Season 10 - Hayden and I are watching this
Once Upon A Time - Season 1 - The whole family is watching this
This Is Us - Season 6
Raised by Wolves - Season 2
Ozark - Season 4
Our Flag Means Death - Season 1
Vikings: Valhalla - Season 1
Amazing Race - Season 33
Meme dump
I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.
So we have corned beef and cabbage because of Mrs. Shife. I'd been wondering ....
ReplyDeleteLove the first two memes ... for the same reasons.
I have no Fiona in my life. Note to self: get a Fiona!
Yes, she is the reason for the season of beef and cabbage.
DeleteI will let her know you passed along your appreciation.
Maybe Tuxedo needs a Fiona?
We have 2 birthdays in March, too. If that’s not enough in common, my oldest daughter played softball and my son was a tennis player. Those were the days. PTO president is a job I never wanted. I can see getting the Fiona thing mixed up,
ReplyDeleteWow. That is a lot in common. I will tell Kyle he has to play tennis now otherwise he will ruin our story.
DeleteSurvivor starts next week! Ms Hill is no BS. I'll bet her book will be good.
ReplyDeleteHi Jimmy. She certainly is not.
DeleteFiona Hill is pretty cool. I saw her on Stephen Colbert this week. I also had a dog named Fiona.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a great dog name, Joanne.
Delete"Donny McDumDumPants", that made me laugh! Love the memes, I remember my mom sending me the first one a few years ago. Happy Birthday to your busy, busy, family members.
ReplyDeleteI liked it as well. It fell a little more creative than Donny Dipshit.
DeleteHappy Birthday to Kyle and Mrs. Shife! I don't think it's unusual to have a limited capacity for Fionas in your brain. Your subconscious just combined the two in the process of decluttering your brain!
ReplyDeleteExcellent point, Bonnie.
DeleteI also saw Fiona Hill on Colbert.
ReplyDeleteYou and quite a few others. I might have to look for it on YouTube.
DeleteHahaha
ReplyDeleteOh, you brought back memories. Criminal is my favorite Fiona Apple song! And Mrs. Hill had a very interesting convo with Colbert about Vlad. He's a dangerous Megalomaniac. I'd read her book.
De-cluttering is always good. I also plan on doing some spring cleaning. BTW, I'll be celebrating with Mrs. Schife and Kyle. I'm also a March baby.
Once Upon a Time is very good. It gets absolutely ridiculous in the last seasons, but so much fun! The kids could read the original fairy tales, too.
And Raised by Wolves is fascinating. I'm also interested in Valhalla. Love me some big blond brutes.
The 'fuck it bucket' made me cackle.
XOXO
Happy birthday to you, Sixpence. The kids loved the Land of Stories so they are really enjoying this show.
DeleteThe first half of season 4 of Ozark went way too fast. It started off a bit slow considering how season 3 ended but I'm hoping it picks up in the second half of the season.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Race 33 - Very ho hum for me for some reason. I must miss the chaos of them finding airplanes and public taxis.
Vikings Valhalla - Let me know how this one goes. I watched the original Vikings and loved it.
Can you have a Fiona you've never met? My wife has a protagonist at work named Lisa that I keep calling Kim... or is it the other way around. Not sure why since I've never met her.
I think I might have to watch Ozark without Mrs. Shife as our pace is agonizing slow. We have only watched 1 episode since it was released so I think we are on pace to finish it in 2024.
DeleteMarch brings our 45th wedding anniversary and a celebration of what would have been my dad's 89th birthday. Other than that, just a month that hopefully will bring lots of sunshine and some warmth to our state! I am not familiar with Fiona Hill and currently have no Fiona's in my life! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the 4th season of Ozark which shows at the end of the month and also season 4 of Tombstone which will stream on Peacock at the end of the month too!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, Jeanette.
DeleteI wouldn't mind a young "criminal" era Fiona Apple in my life. Sadly that is not the case.
ReplyDeleteI think you might have a fantasy shared by many others, Bathwater. IIRC that video won over a lot of people.
DeleteMarch is certainly a busy month, full of celebrations and activities. And spring is coming! I thought the same thing about Fiona; when I heard the name, I immediately thought Fiona Apple. I guess I haven't heard of too many Fionas.
DeleteEnjoy your March, Margaret.
Delete7000 open tabs.... 😎
ReplyDeleteIt is a problem.
DeleteI swear I think every one in our family was born in march. Is Raised by wolves confusing to you? Half the time I dont know what the fuck is going on..if you get a chance watch somebody somewhere. 1883 is wonderful and sad at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI find RBW very interesting. There are times when I am ready to be done because it so bonkers but then it lures me again.
DeleteI do have a Fiona in my life. She's 10. A lovely, sweet kid. One of 'mine' a couple hours a day.
ReplyDeleteBrain farts become more common as you age, surely you expect this? (I know, don't call me Shirley)
Teenager, huh? Before I had children my friends who had them said, "You won't believe how fast time goes!" I nodded along. Inside I said, "Okay, it's TIME, it goes how it goes, just having kids won't speed it up."
I was wrong.
Time feels a lot different as a parent.
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteOzark is really good. I enjoyed it.
Sounds like March will be busy.
Thanks, Mary.
DeleteI've realised I don't know anyone called Fiona.
ReplyDeleteDecluttering is always good.
I can relate to the last meme. Sigh.
I haven't watched any of the programmes you've listed!
I think a lot of us can relate to that meme.
DeleteWhat a coinky dinky! I was born March 13. My youngest son was born March 18. His oldest daughter was born March 17. She'll be seventeen. I feel very, very old. I also identify with that cat!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you are the only who can identify with the cat. Happy birthday to you and your family.
DeleteMarch is the month for birthdays for my kids (8 and 19). Do you serve lime and orange sherbet for Mrs. Shife's birthday? I would recommend my latest read by Anne Applebaum ("Red Famine") for understanding more about Ukraine (and why they have real problems with Russians/Soviets), but I won't want for your take on the book :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeff. Enjoy your month of birthdays. I will pass along your book suggestion to the readers in our family.
DeleteI need one of those curtains.
ReplyDeleteI see I misunderstood the timing of Kyle's birthday in my comment on the last post - change "belated" to "upcoming" and it will work better :) It's cool that Mrs. Shife's birthday is so famous!
I knew a Fiona long ago. She was about 5 years old and played the part of Toto the dog in a musical theatre production of The Wizard of Oz that I was also in. She was a cutie. (BTW, being short, I was a Munchkin, of course - hah)
