Hello 2022

Happy 2022!
I hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday season.
Christmas was a success as we got to spend it with family.
Kyle and Hayden were pleased with Santa's choices for them.

They got a brand new gaming system but the present they have been playing the most while they have been home over the holiday break is a board game, Monopoly.
New Year's Eve was also a success as we got to spend it with family, friends and there was no visit from the hangover fairy, which is always a bonus.
Last year, I imbibed too much and fell forward in our friend's bathroom, which resulted in me cracking a picture frame.
They set up safety measures in case I got out of hand again.

But I was a good boy.
Ms. Frizzle spent a majority of the break working on her mental health.

Self care with a yellow lab evidently involves eviscerating all of your new Christmas toys.
She also rang in the new year with her new collar.

We went with green because it was the cleanest one in her drawer.
But I guess it also symbolizes growth and renewal so we have that going for us.
And growth is kind of where I want to focus on myself in 2022.
I am not a fan of resolutions so a few years ago I decided to try monthly challenges.
And I missed doing them.
I think a lot of the motivation waned thanks to COVID but I am ready to try again.
So for January I am going to focus on small home projects - Handymanuary if you insist - that have been neglected far too long.
The list includes installing a new dining room light, repairing smalls holes in the wall, fixing some chipped kitchen tile and removing paint in the bathroom.
February's goal might be saving money to call an actual handyman to fix my mistakes but I think I can handle it.
Well, that's all for now.
Hope you are well and I will talk to you soon.

I am better than I was. I will be better than I am.
I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. omg those memes were good. That slutty kitty. Happy New Year. After your done at your house I have a few projects going on and could use the help. And what is a stuffed toy if not to take it's guts out? At least my Lab thinks that must be done before she can play with them. Surgically removes all eyes along seams and spits them out as if to say, "don't watch me tear our your guts" It makes us laugh.

  2. I like you're idea of monthly challenges. Mine for January is to re-start my planking. We were traveling for 2 days, so am starting my challenge on Jan 5, yesterday and therefore can proudly say I've done two days in a row. I won't do every day, as you need a break I think at least once a week? So for now...I'm doing 40 second planks with 4 repeats with 12 second rest in between. I think I'll try doing them 3 days in a row, with a rest day...hopefully then I can add some seconds to the plank time as it continues. Being more active again (easier now that we're not home and the weather here is warmer). I did a bike ride yesterday and walked today. The Bike ride wasn't far, but the knees felt it. First time I've been on a bike since Spring. Walking 4 miles today.

Glad you were safe on New Years Eve. Falls are never a good thing. Here's hoping the New Year treats us all better. Fingers and toes crossed. About time to go fix cocktails...it's the best time of the time.

  3. Those were some interesting meme choices . . .
It is so satisfying those home projects done. Hopefully, you will not need to make a call to the electrician in February.

  4. My oldest got a VR headset. I've been waiting for her to crash into something but it hasn't happened yet. I know I'm not going to try it on and be the first.

  6. Monopoly! I love Monopoly! Baltic Avenue!! My dogs always got new collars for Christmas; that stopped when they decided they were too old to be trendy. That cat meme? Had me rolling!

  12. I hate doing repairs or remodeling the house. I only do it when it gets really bad. A board game is good for the kids. Most spend to much time online.

  13. Memes are the best. So happy that no hangover and you got to spend New Years with friends and family.

I loved Monopoly as a kid. I don't think we quite played the rules entirely, we bent them a little (like being able to build hotels/houses as soon as you bought the property not having to wait till you owned all of them). But yes, hours of fun and sometimes accusations of cheating (for whomever was the banker).

  14. Happy New Year to you and your family! I'm happy to hear the hangover fairy stayed away. I love that even with a new game system the kids played a board game! I don't do resolutions either as I think that sets you up for failure. I like you idea of small projects done one at a time. I need a complete reboot this year I think!

  15. Happy(Happier) New Year! Dogs and cats love to tear up toys. My cat shredded her catnip toy in a drug induced frenzy. :) We used to play Monopoly; it's a LONG game! I love board games in general though.

  16. Loved the pic of Ms Frizz, doing what she does best. Glad you had a good holiday season, your friends are very clever. Enjoy those little handyman duties. Whenever I want to do small jobs they always end being very big jobs because if one area looks good then I have to do more to make everything else look good too, ha.

  17. Agreed on ixnay of resolutions….they’re for sissy’s anyway :-). Monthly goals, that’s gold, and I’m on board! For January, it is/was taking down the tree and other decorations, so now I’m free to contemplate my goal for February, ha ha.

  20. I think your friends were a little disappointed that you didn't break anything the following year. You need to keep your rock star image going. Do a Keith Moon on the joint next year to make up for it.

    The kids are growing up!

And that donut trick is outstanding. Probably would get a sexual harassment charge for me and my son filed by my son's male or female teacher, but well worth it.
