Halloween Weekend 2021

Sweet Lincoln's mullet, I can't believe it is already November.
It was just like that, Lady Gaga.
Before I know it, there will be Hayden's birthday, Thanksgiving, National Green Bean Casserole Day, Christmas, New Year's Eve, a massive hangover, and then 2022.
Time to get serious and close out 2021 with a bang.

Before I can do that, I need to share some details from our last weekend in October.
First, I lost my bet to Hayden and had to get my nails done.

I had to keep the nail polish on until Wednesday at 5 pm.
It was great going to physical therapy and the eye doctor with my fancy nails.
Next, we got some great weather so we were able to take my dad out and about.

And then we had Halloween.

A jack-o'-lantern pizza that grew some warts in the oven.

Ms. Frizzle's pumpkin patch had a rough week.
They lasted about 1 day before they got the plague or got drunk.

Presenting Kyle and Hayden as Link and Stitch.

And then we watched the scariest Disney movie ever.
Actually, we watched "Goosebumps" with Jack Black and it was entertaining.

How was your Halloween?

Hope your week is going well.
Thanks for stopping by and I will talk to you soon.

I am better than I was. I will be better than I am.
I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Our across the street neighbor, a
fireman, had a fire going in a container
on his driveway. Handed out treats that
    way. Was very popular.
Glad your Dad got home safe, long day
    for him.
    xoxo :-)

  2. I will say that color looks good on you!

And you're a good dad for doing it!

    1. Thanks, Bob. Hayden specifically chose red because it would really stand out.

  3. But did you go to PT and not say anything about your nails unless asked? That would have been the best part!

    1. I didn't say a word, Peg. They mentioned that I had lovely nails and then I had to confess to losing a bet to my daughter.

  4. You seem to be be a great dad! Be thankful she didn't want eye shadow and a tiara, too. My age is showing as I have no idea who Link and Stitch are.

You are quite handsome in red.

  5. Hayden did a wonderful job on your nails! (you're such a good Dad) It looks like Ms. Frizzle is waiting in line to get her nails done next. I'm glad you had some good times out with your Dad. The kids' costumes are great!

  6. Your nails look much better than mine do! I've had pumpkins like that before and it's difficult to maneuver them into the garbage. (without getting goo all over) It looks like a great day and a fun time with Dad. My Halloween was very nice--in New York with my grandson and his parents and at a cute zoo. Although he wasn't into his costume(screamed his head off), we had a pleasant day otherwise.

    1. I had to use the snow shovel to help with the pumpkin removal, Margaret.

  7. We were at my granddaughters (7yo) house for Halloween. Her block has a lot of kids her age so there was a lot of kid traffic that night. And there were about 5 or 6 houses with fires going including ours.

  8. I don’t know Link, but Stitch is cute! We went trick-or-treating with the grands who were Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. Was it hot outside? I’m wondering why the jack-o-lanterns sunk in?

    1. It warmed up during the day to almost 70 and then we got near freezing at night so I think that did in the pumpkins, Bijoux.

  9. Halloween wasn't much here, in the country. We had a little candy on hand which will be eaten by Thanksgiving.

  11. A few years back, when I was running the paint department, a father and daughter came in with matching nails, bright pink, it takes cojones for a guy to walk around Home Depot with pink nails. Those pumpkins? Wow! I don't do Halloween any more, though if someone wants to give me candy I'll gladly accept it.

    1. I wouldn't put it past Hayden if she tried to talk me into another bet which would involve me getting my nails done again, Dave R. And she would definitely try to get a brighter color.

  13. Halloween was fun! Not many kids came around but we did give away some candy. and I got to decorate the door with that CAUTION tape! Fun!
Love the idea of nail polish! You (and Hayden) have inspired me and I'm going to paint mine black. It's my favorite color.
And yep. It's all downhill after Thanksgiving. Girdle your loins!

    XOXO

  15. Hayden did a great job; good color for you :) Nice pics of you and your Dad. I like pizza warts, ha.

  16. Seeing the smooshy pumpkins made me smile. And, hey, nice nails! That pizza face has almost too much personality for me to want to cut it up and eat it. Well done.

  17. Sure looks like you had a nice Halloween. Our pumpkin did the same thing.

  18. Hayden did a great job on your nails! And I completely believe you when you say how great it was to go to PT and the eye doctor that way :D You are a good sport and a man of your word, Mr. S.

Glad you got out and about with your own dad. It's good to make memories as often as possible.

Those pumpkins - what happened? Here's my pumpkin story. Approximately 30 years ago we carved a pumpkin for Halloween and then put it in the kitchen pantry cupboard - I've forgotten our reasoning on that - and unearthed it about three weeks later. It didn't smell, but it completely fell apart when we tried to move it to throw it out. Not a huge amount of joy getting that cleaned up :)

    1. Thanks, jenny_o. I need to set a good example to the kids and have to follow through if I say something. I am not envious of your Halloween mess. At least our pumpkins were outside and the squirrels helped out.
