Good times
Kyle and Hayden returned to their happy place this past weekend.
We took them to the fair.
They rode rides, sucked down sugary snacks, joyfully jumped and gladly gamed.
They love that place, which is still a little frustrating, but I am glad that we can make them happy.
Mrs. Shife and I find it frustrating because we don't love that place.
We have tried bribing them.
We have tried lying to them.
But the fair always wins.
Despite the objections from me and Mrs. Shife, we had a good day.
Three-day weekend
What are you doing for the Labor Day weekend? We have plans but you will have to come back next week to read all about it.
Before Ms. Frizzle, we were owned by basset hounds.
First, there was Quincy, then came along Tank.
I think there are few of you who still remember that fat basset.
This is also when I was a stay-at-home dad and Kyle was a super little dude.
We had some adventures with Tank and I remembered one of them the other day.
I thought I would share.
I am sure this will definitely fall into the way too much information category for some of you but I am who I am and if I didn't share this story then I would not be me.
Tank, Kyle, and I are in the master bedroom.
I am changing out of my PJs to take the Shifley boys for a walk.
I strip down to my birthday suit, put on a clean shirt, and about to throw on my panties when I notice Kyle has gotten into a drawer that is not baby-friendly.
It has some of the dog meds in it and Kyle was attempting to help himself to the pills.
I told him "No" in my big, bad Daddy voice and rushed over to take the meds away from him.
Now remember I am still in just a t-shirt when I go over to Kyle.
I bend down to grab Kyle and let him know that what he is doing is wrong when all of the sudden I feel something cold and wet on my testicles.
Turns out when I bend over sans underwear my twins are right at nose level for the Tankster.
So Tankers got himself to third base with me.
I tried to put a positive spin on it and was just glad his nose was not level with my butt.
Meme dump
I am better than I was. I will be better than I am.
I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.
Glad you all (mostly) had a good day.
ReplyDeletexoxo :-)
TY, AK!
DeleteFirst of all, I love the fair! I don't ride the rides (I'm not completely suicidal, just a bit) but I enjoy looking at the people and eating all kinds of bad for my health stuff. Gyros *sigh*.
ReplyDeleteNow for Tank. I thought this was going to be a story about him protecting the boy from a perceived danger, but noooooo! It was a tea bagging, doggy style! I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything. Such a mental picture!
The memes are hilarious, as usual. I especially liked the dyslexia one. So clever.
Fairs are the best for people watching.
DeleteA wholesome story, Deedles? You came to the wrong blog. Ha.
I definitely had the cartoon eyes bulging out of my head when it happened.
The fair is usually a good time. We used to have a small fair set up in the parking lot next to me before the new stores moved in. I took my daughter every year.
ReplyDeleteI think it is just a rite of passage if you have kids, Mary.
DeleteI think going to Fairs is just part of being a kid. I love the picture of Tank and Kyle. I think you should just be glad Tank didn't bite! Great memes!
ReplyDeleteSo very glad, Bonnie.
DeleteI'm impressed with the guys carrying the box.
ReplyDeleteMe too, Mike.
DeleteOmg what a hoot!! Not for you perhaps, but we enjoyed tanksters "prank"
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it, Peg.
DeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteFairgrounds are so much fun! I get dizzy easily so I'm not a good candidate but I love walking around and eating candy. Oh, basset hounds. I once met one: Harley. He would eat literally anything. He was super stealthy. Once, he ate a whole 18" pizza straight from a counter. Box and all.
The poetry meme is literally me.
XOXO
Harley sounds like a basset. They are little Hoovers for sure.
DeleteI hate fairs! I don’t trust the Carnies and the smell of all that greasy food makes me ill! Bassetts crack me up; they always looks so sad, but it sounds like Tank had a good day once! Lol!
ReplyDeleteGood reasons to avoid the fair, Bijoux. Bassets are very, very funny dogs.
DeleteThanks for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Ed.
DeleteWow, that was some doggie surprise. Amazing that the Missus didn't come home and find you hanging from the ceiling in fear!
ReplyDeleteIt was a doozy of a day, Bob.
DeleteI wanted to go to our Fair this year (I have free tix like always) but the boyfriend isn't comfortable since most of the stuff we want to see is inside. The sky is so blue and it looks like a great time for kids. Lots of rides! You're lucky that the dog wasn't a biter. *shudder*
ReplyDeleteIt turns out he was biter but not just at that moment. I was really, really lucky.
DeleteI think fairs make for great people watching.
ReplyDeleteIt most certainly does, Bathwater.
DeleteNever been a 'fair' person... if you know what I mean. I also have big dogs, and being big dogs they like to sniff, so I am never, ever sans protection when around them because, well, they're dogs, and dogs want to smell everything.
ReplyDeleteI am not a 'fair' person either, Dave R, but I am a Kyle and Hayden person so duty calls. I don't think they will be fair people too much longer.
DeleteGreat experience with your family. Have a nice day
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vicky.
DeleteWe've gone to the fair a few times when Faith was young but overall we find them too 'peopley'. I swiped another meme, thanks!
ReplyDeleteToo peopley is very accurate.
DeleteWhen my brother and I were kids, our parents always took us to the Canada Day fair and the fall agricultural exhibition fair, and I loved it. When our kids were young, they only got to go one time when my parents and I took them because my husband really, really did not like it - he found it so loud and disorienting. I think the world may be severely divided into the likes and the not-likes as far as fairs go :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memes - I love the poetry/pottery one! Hilarious story about Tank :)
I think you are right on about the fairs, jenny_o.
DeleteSuper post
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rajani.
