Summer Vibes

What's making me happy

The kids are done with school.
Their last day is Thursday.
We did it.
We made it through the school year.
There are many different words that come to mind when thinking about this school year.
Dumpster fire.
Shit storm.
Scatastrophe.
Poovalanche.
Turdnado.
Anus burger.
Clusterfuckastrophy.
But no matter what we call it, it is over and we survived.
And we are on to the next thing... summer vacation.
Hayden is doing swim team and Kyle is going to robot camp.
There will also be many trips to the water park, the lake and the farm.
It will be good.

Updates

Hayden did her 5k on Saturday morning and she crushed it.
It took her about 40 minutes to finish the whole thing, which isn't too shabby.
She had lots of support and we are really proud of her.

Ms. Frizzle was invited to run with Hayden and Mrs. Shife but she has recently taken up meditation and is really focused on that for the time being. She is also crushing it.

Observations

Looking forward to the Memorial Day weekend.
Do you have any plans?
I think anything will be better than what most of us were doing last year.
Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a wonderful time.

I will try and do better.

I will persevere. I will keep moving forward. I will be the stream.

  1. Congratulations to all of you for making it through one of the all time most difficult school years! Also, congrats to Hayden on her successful 5k! I'm thinking Kyle is going to have a great time at robot camp. Does he watch Battle Bots? I must confess, I love that show.

    Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

I liked all your words choices about school, but I will be stealing, and using "Scatastrophe" until I drive everyone insane!

  5. Yeah! to making it through the school year! I don't know how all the parents survived to be truthful. Also congrats to Hayden. Damn fine job! Robot camps sounds cool. I think Mr. Fizzle has perfected his meditation! All stars in your home. I'm fixing up the house to sell this weekend. A few more things need done. Sounds like fun doesn't it? Yea, I'd rather have a root canal...without anesethia.

  7. For us, this school year was about like any other with the exception of masks. But then again, we were in person since last August. But I have enough friends who had kids in virtual all year to know that your words sums up their experiences as well.

We are avoiding the masses and staying home this Memorial Day. Perhaps in mid week when everyone is back to work we will do our thing.

  9. Congratulations to Hayden for that run! I'm more of a Ms. Frizzle gal myself, so I could certainly use more exercise. Hayden's inspiring me to think about that more seriously.

Well done on getting through the school year. My heart has gone out to all the parents who had to do school virtually along with their kids this past year. It cannot have been easy for either generation. Hopefully your summer will be much, much better.

  14. OMG...anus burger made me laugh till it hurt. No plans for the weekend, I think I'm just going to just be.
And I have taken up meditation. I think I'm crushing it, but we will see. Sometimes midway through a meditation, I think is it almost over. So maybe not totally crushing it. But I have been at it for almost 3 weeks.

  17. Clusterfuckastrophy, that was a nice one to describe this last School Year with the Pandemic Home Schooling! It has made it necessary for Princess T to take Summer School all day for the entire month of June to recapture Lost Credits. She wanted to do it and apparently almost all the Kids are having to do it, Home Schooling during Pandemic didn't work out for most Families and some Families never did let their Children return to In-Person Classes since no Kid could be Vaccinated yet. Princess T finally got her first Jab of Pfizer for the 12-15 year old group, she gets her 2nd next Week and I Hope she doesn't miss any Summer School with the 2nd one... sometimes people react differently to the 2nd Jab, the 1st she had no problems at all, nor did we with either 1st or 2nd, so I'm hopeful. I'll have such Peace of Mind when she's fully Vaxxed too. Returning to a semblance of Normal is long overdue and we can see the Mental Health toll it took on Society when so many people are just reacting so violently when released from Lockdown Extended Stay, they're losing their Minds and lashing out like Animals. Seems some forgot how to be Civilized this past year and get along and play well with others!
